When you adopt a child, they become family
and should always feel the love and care.

                          The Adoption of a Child
                              November 26, 1985
                           By Rode Marie Rideout

Some things are more important than other things in life. When you take a cat or a dog, you take them into your life with the promise that you will love, feed and protect them for the rest of their lives. You may not realize it but those animals have a heart and their feelings are real. They smile and they cry but when you give them love, they will return that love a thousand times over, staying by your side when you need them the most.

When you adopt a child, they become part of your family and need to have your love and to be cared for the rest of their life.Children are a blessing to bring into the world and every child deserves to be wanted and loved.

It is so sad for those that can't have any of their own children but they have big hearts and pray for someone to have a child just for them to have and to hold, to love and care for, to know that this special child is their's.

I know because my husband and I adopted a little girl, she was three months old when we got to hold her in our arms and kiss her through all the tears we shed. She was so beautiful, she was perfect and we knew she would fit into our family of four brothers.

We knew she was our child and how often strangers would say (my how she looks like her dad) and my husband would glow. This was our little girl, her brothers loved her and helped take care of her through her years of growing up. We were always Mommy and Daddy and always will be. We decided through the years we would always let her know her real grandparents and who her birth mother was and later she married and had a family. Our little girl grew up knowing she had a sister and two more brothers.

I believe we made the right decision and she loves us more for that. She turns forty this year and has always made us proud parents. She is our little girl and always will be. Her brothers love her so much and are always there for her as she is always there for them. To take a child into your heart and family is forever and no child should feel less no matter how old they are.

My husband was adopted by his mother's husband who promised her, he would never tell him who his real dad was and would always love him as his own. That never happened, He drank all the time, every penny he earned and stole whatever gifts were given to him, to sell for alcohol. He never showed any love to him as a child. When my husband was just thirteen his stepfather came home drunk as usual with another drunken  man. He called out to him and said come out, I want you to meet your real dad. It was a shock to this young boy, as Fred got older he got to know his real dad, who was a lobster fisherman and yes he did drink. If he knew Fred was going to visit with his family, he was always sober. He loved his son and family and always treated the family with love. His wife was so good to the kids and would always knit them sweaters and great them with hugs and kisses.

As for the Stepfather, the five children packed his things and kicked him out. They grew tired of their father abusing their mom. His four kids kept in touch with him but he never ever acknowledged Fred or his family through the years. But that was ok because Fred got all the love he needed from his Mom and his dad along with all his uncles, aunts and  cousins from his dad's side. He always loved his three brothers and one sister.
Fred like our daughter grew up to be a hard worker, a loving dad and husband, a very caring person.

We have five children that we raised, only two of them were our's from birth. They are in their forties and fifties now and always loved us and always called us Mom and Dad. They always knew they were our children and always will. We love them so much and that's how adoption has to be.  A FAMILY that's loved and cared for through their lives.

WE love you kids so much.
              Mom and Dad XOXOXOXOXO

I'm eagerly looking forward to a sequel to this Rose. Very well written. I was glued to my chair from the first words to what I hope isn't the end.

Hugs,
Marcia

Dear Rose, there are so many people like Aunt Viv and Uncle Charlese. How can anyone be so rude with Rene, after all she was only thirteen. (Please make the parents come back, don't kill them)the story will be nicer if they stay alive. Great story, Love Emile

This just breaks my heart Rose ... first this poor child loses her loving parents and then to be forced to live where you are unloved and unwanted, just tears at the heart. Poor child. I do hope this story continues and there's a happy ending. Hugs, Elizabeth
