As The Deer Pants – Dig #5
Messiah

And it came to pass in those days that there went out a decree
from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed
And all went to be taxed, everyone into his own city…
“Do you guys feel as I do?” asks Lew. “I feel as if we’re
about to experience…no, it’s as if we’re in the presence
of God himself. Listen to what it says in verse 4 of Luke 2.”
And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth,
Into Judaea, unto the City of David, which is called Bethlehem…
“To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife,
being great with child,” adds Joyce.
“And there they are…Mary and Joseph,” says Kimmy, pointing.
“Guys,” says Victor, “This is indeed a blessed moment.
We are here as observers in a time—2006 years ago—
It’s like a vision.”
And so the diggers watch in awe the lone figures of the man
Leading a tired donkey, upon which sits Mary.
Suddenly, the scene changes
And the diggers see shepherds tending their flocks…
Andy slowly reads the text from Luke 2 verse 9:
And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them,
And the glory of the Lord shone round about them;
And they were sore afraid…
“Listen,” says CJ, “the angel is speaking…”
Fear not; for behold I bring you good tidings
Of great joy, which shall be to all people
For unto you is born this day in the city of David
A Saviour, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall
Be a sign unto you. Ye shall find the babe wrapped
In swaddling clothes, lying in a manger…”
And for the first time, the diggers observe a
Bright star shining directly over the stable
Which Mary and Joseph now occupy.
Joselyn, overwhelmed with love, reads the text from Luke 2 verse 7:
And she brought forth her firstborn son,
And wrapped him in swaddling clothes,
And laid Him in a manger;
because there was no place for them in the inn…
Richard whispers from trembling lips, the words from Isaiah 9 verse 6:
And His name shall be called Wonderful,
Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father,
The Prince of Peace…
“O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
O come, let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord…”
This is only the beginning…not the end!
Em-man-u-el ... God with us!

Merry Christmas one and all
May God bless you this Christmas and always
As you take time to remember the birth
Of His precious son, Jesus.
