It is good to hear from you; I am sorry for not writing until now, but the holidays had us hoppin'. The boys were wired from all the sweets and presents, and it was enough to drive me crazy!! I hope you had a good Christmas and New Year's there; you will have to tell me about your holiday happenin's! :)
I have heard from the grapevine that you are adopting several more children. Is this true , or is it just an auspicious rumor? I think you are crazy; you already have over fifty children to take care of!! I am happy that you want to help kids in need, but come on...fifty plus children, and you are thinking of adding more?? Nutz, Louie, that's what you are: just. plain. NUTZ!! Still, I am happy that you want to do this! So many children are in need of a home or a family!
How is the weather there in Tennessee? Here it is warm, and it is sunny. We Florida folk are very happy today: our beloved Gators whupped up on Ohio State and they are the National Champions of college football. If you were rooting for Ohio State, I am sorry your team lost, but it was a lopsided game all the way, and the Bucks made too many costly mistakes that gave our Gators the advantage. My husband made some bets at work, and he is going to be a rich man; I have a hunch he made a killing! LOL I hope the weather there is good.
I hear it is supposed to get colder by the weekend. I don't know if the cold weather will make it this far south, but just the mere thought of colder temps makes my Florida blood turn to ice. BRRR!! I am a native Floridian, and I don't do cold weather well. Give me the hot stuff anyday! :)
Have your kids been healthy, or have they been sick this winter? The boys had the flu (the youngest had it twice, plus he had to go into the hospital with pneumonia; thank God he has recovered; but he gave us some anxious moments for a while), but other than that, no problems. So far Mario and myself have avoided getting sick, but with the weather changes coming up this weekend, I don't know; seems that each time it gets cold we get the bug. Not good!
I hope your kids have avoided being sick, and I hope that your kids have avoided being in the hospital. My little one was in the hospital for a week with the pneumonia, and he had to go into ICU for a few days because he had so much trouble with his breathing. He was on oxygen, and he had to wear a heart monitor. I don't know how you deal with so much sickness, especially since you are a nurse; you see so much sickness anyway!
I am sorry to tell you that the Escavido boys both passed away. Doctors thought they were going to recover, but complications set in, and both boys, unfortunately, died. It has been a terrible holiday season for them, and it has been hard on all of us. I have been trying to be kind to the Escavidos, but it is so hard to see them being so torn up. They lost their children, and all of a sudden, their dreams have seemed to gone up in smoke. I feel so bad for them! Please continue to pray for Esteban and Griselda Escavido!
Well, this isn't much, but other than Florida beating the Ohio State Buckeyes and the news about the Escavido family, not much is new here. I am sorry if my letter sounds boring, but I am not good at writing letters, not like you are. Seems that writing comes hard for me.

There is so much packed into this story. Fifty adopted kids by your friend,football, and finally the death of two boys. I am glad your son recovered from pneumonia. Your story's are so real and moving.
Reads with the familiarity and intimacy of an engrossing conversation between two old friends. Like the blending of humor, concern, and playful astonishment.
Keeping in touch with friends is always a nice thing to do. Usually, though, the recipient is overjoyed to receive news. There is no shortage of that here. Pity about the brothers dying, though. Still, there is always a warm, friendly feel about your letters; enough to restore happiness to the reader. Well done, Karen!
