INSTRUCTOR HERE MAY APPEAR IN WORLDWIDE SHOW THIS FALL

Ssgt. Louisa A Dobbins, may be selected to participate in the Army Worldwide Festival of the Performing Arts in Washington October 13.
Ssgt. Dobbins, an instructor of military minestry at the Army Chaplain Center and School, won one of the three 'Best of Show' awards at the Training Doctrine and Command (TRADOC) level talent contest held August 5 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. The Washington Festival will consist of 30 performers chosen from 100 entrants in contest held in Korea, Europe and at other US post.
Her performance was video taped and sent with other tapes to the Department of the Army to be judged. If she is choosen, she will go to Washington for three weeks rehearsal before the show. The Army will choose a theme for the show and may choose the material a performer may use as well.
Modest about her performance, she said, "I am so thankful to God that I have a talent that people can appreciate and can share."
She has been interested in the performing arts ever since she can remember, she added. Her mother insisted that she sing as a child and nurtured the talent she possesed. However, she said it wasn't until she joined the Army in 1974 that she started performing as much as she does now.
Besides singing, she said she loves acting and is enthusiastic about the theater. She likes to cast soldiers in her performances who are interested in the theater, but have not had the opportunity to perform before. She says she perfers military people because they seem to be more motivated.
She also writes. Her play, "Heritage of America," won the National Federation of Music award (a play which she wrote, directed, produced and star performed in).
Ssgt. Dobbins has been offered opportunities to give up her military career and sing professionally. However, she says she plans to continue her military service and performing arts simultaneously until retirement.

Ssgt. Louisa Dobbins, from the Chaplain School at Fort Monmouth, NJ, was selected by the Department of the Army for the Army Festival of the Performing Arts. The festival will be held at the Sheraton Washington Hotel, Washington, DC, on October 13. Dobbins was a first place winner in the first round of the festival, held here last month.
This book is a collection of short stories that depict events in Author's life while she lived in Romania, then in Greece, and last in America. It's a beautiful and very sincere account of a young woman's life and comming to age.
