Waiting to Die

She knew he was coming for her next. He'd already taken out her brothers and sisters. She, alone, remained. She knew that she was doomed. Even if she could run, there was nowhere to run to. Even if she could see him coming to carry out his heinous plan, there was no escape.
She could feel the heat of her funeral pyre nearby. Suddenly, without warning, she felt his hands on her, the agony as he broke her body. The beating was brief but merciless, the heat unbearable. Then, oblivion.
He thought the omelet was delicious.
