Dear Journal~
I am sitting here, listening to the children playing outside. Bill and my father, Armand, are outside with them, supervising them, making sure they don't get into any mischief. So far, it seems to be working.
I pray it continues. I don't feel like dealing with fighting children right now, especially since my headache is lessening. I have had a sinus infection and a migraine headache the past several days; have missed work, which is going to kill my paycheck. Not good! LOL Oh, well, I'll make it up soon enough; no doubt I'll have to do some doubles in the near future. It always happens.
We got some good news yesterday: we found out that we have been approved to adopt another child. The child we are going to adopt is a little three-year-old boy named Bjorn Wilhem.
He is from Finland; he looks a lot like Johnny did when he was small: he has the same flyaway white-blonde hair and penetrating blue eyes; he is really cute. Alas, he is handicapped, and will need lots of help once he does arrive. He is blind and deaf; he was born this way. He is a handful, according to the adoption agency, but with help, he should settle down once he gets used to us.
Little Bjorn will probably be arriving in the next few months, if all goes well, but it could take as much as a year. I hope not; once we set out to adopt a particular child, we can't wait for him (or her) to come into the family!
The children already know about Bjorn, and they are excited, too. After all, they are getting a new little brother to play with. They keep asking daddy and myself when Bjorn will be arriving; we tell them, "Soon, very soon. Just be patient".
Sixty children. It doesn't seem possible, but that is how many children we will have. It sounds crazy, I know, but as I have mentioned before, once Bill and I see a particular child, we fall in love with them immediately, and it isn't long that once they do arrive, they become members of our family. It isn't long before we can't imagine the family without our newest adopted children; it always happens without fail!
Audrey Callaway has written to me; she says she has some "news", but what, I don't know yet. She has me hangin' on the edge of my seat. I also found out that Kendra is pregnant; she is very excited about it because this is her first pregnancy. Doctors didn't think she'd ever conceive because she has spina bifida and is paralyzed; it is nothing short of a miracle! As you can imagine, the family is wild with joy! :)
Rebekkah is faring pretty well; she has been acting like she is depressed. I don't blame her, really; she is paralyzed, and that is enough for her to deal with, on top of everything else she's faced in her life. She has been through so much it's unreal. A child shouldn't have to endure so much pain!
Well, I have to go now. The kids are yelling; I think Johnny is in the midst of a seizure or something; they are acting like something is wrong. Oh, God, it is Johnny: he is on the ground, and he is writhing uncontrollably; have to go and help him. Hope it isn't anything too serious; will keep you posted~
