Johnny writes in his journal from the hospital, where he is recovering from a seizure. (He'll be released sometime on Wednesday afternoon.)

Monday, March 26, 2007, 6:31 p.m., D.S.T., Nashville Memorial Hospital~

Dear Journal~

This is Johnny. I am sitting here, waiting for my supper. Hopefully it won't be the sludge I had for lunch; it was disgusting!

How is someone supposed to get well when they have to eat crap like the stuff I had today? Let's see: I had runny mashed potatoes that were cold, mystery meat, and some limp carrots that could have used CPR, to have the life restored to them. They lay there, looking...dead. Even a Code Blue couldn't have saved them.

ICK.

Then to top it off, they sent me--coffee. I don't drink coffee. I am just a kid. Kids aren't supposed to drink coffee. LOL I wanted a Coke; instead, I got java juice.

I was not amused. I think I made the one lunch lady cry when I bit her head off for sending me this stuff. I felt bad, but they should know what I like; I put what I wanted to eat on the order form. What were they thinking when they filled my order?? They must have gotten it mixed up with someone else's!

I had ordered pizza, Coke, and ice cream. That would help me to feel better. But nooooooooooooo...I got the wrong menu.

One good thing, though: the IV is history; they took it out this morning. I can move my arm again without worrying about knocking the needle out or tangling the tubing (which I have done, plenty of times!). I do have a nice bruise on my wrist where the needle had been; it looks really charming--NOT. LOL

I do have the catheter though; still have to wear it. I can't always get to the bathroom fast enough; on a day where my MD is acting up, forgiddaboud making it to the bathroom on time when I have to go. Accident City! Not a fun thing to have happen, especially when I am out in public. I don't need people calling attention to my having an accident in my pants; I am already embarrassed enough as it is; why do people have to constantly call attention to what I already know??

Gad!

I am on my oxygen; I hate it because I keep knocking the prongs loose or both prongs end up in only one nostril, and only one part of my nose is getting oxygen while the other part is going "HelLO! Oxygen here! I need some, thankyewverymuch!" It's getting to be way past annoying!

Well, I know this is short, but the menu gal is here; thank God it isn't the one I made cry. This one is different. I just hope they brought me the right meal or I am going to start hissing like a furred-out kitten! *MREEEEEEEEOW! HISSSSSS!!*

I will write in here again, probably when I get home. Should be on Wednesday, maybe tomorrow if I continue to do as well as I have been doing. Let's hope that is the case; I am more than ready to get out of this prison! LOL

Bye!

~Johnny. :)

P.S.: Rebekkah Rachel moved one of her arms; maybe that's the start of her getting her movement back. Docs don't hold much hope for her, but some movement is better than none! She is in a better mood, but she has her good days and bad. I may give her a call tonight to surprise her; I think she'd like that. :)

I know a teenage boy in the same boat as Johnny regarding cathing. You have captured the feelings of these kids well. They are just like any other kid and want to be treated as such. So their bodies don't work like other people's...that's not what's important. What's important is that they want to experience life with their peers, as a peer.
