Louisiana writes to her friend Louisa Mason in California after getting an e-mail from her.

Dear Louisa~
Hey! Thanks for your letter; 'twas nice to hear from you again! It has been a while for both of us; forgive me for not writing??
I am sorry to learn that little Daniel may have Duchenne's. I know very well of the terror that diagnosis can bring: my son Johnny was diagnosed with Duchenne's when he was about learning to walk, and he has gone downhill steadily ever since, yet he continues to defy the odds.
Johnny is now fourteen and is in a wheelchair all of the time now; he's lost his ability to walk. He also has seizures and breathing and heart problems. He is in the hospital now, recovering from a bad seizure, but he is expected to come home later today after a week.
I am glad Maddie is doing a lot better; we were worried about her for a time. (Still am.) We also have been worried about Rebekkah Rachel, she and Maddie have been through so much, as has Susie Jackson. Kids shouldn't have to suffer like this; it isn't fair!!
How are you doing? How are the rest of the kids? Tell them all I say hello! We are doing okay for the most part, but as I said earlier, Johnny has been in the hospital. We are getting ready to add to the family: yes, you read right. We are getting ready to adopt our sixtieth child, a little three-year-old boy from Finland named Bjorn Wilhem. Bjorn is healthy enough, but he was born blind and deaf, and is a handful. Hopefully once he gets used to us, he will settle down. It's going to be interesting! LOL
The Cohens and Kent families have added kids to their families: the Cohens have added two girls, and so has the Williams-Kent family. My daughters Lightning and Dwerlina are pregnant, so we are adding to the family way, too, in a very big way: this is Lightning's seventh pregnancy, Dwerlina's first. Babies, babies everywhere! GAD! LOL
Yet I love it! LOL I love the chaos that new kids often bring! I function best when chaos is swirling around me! LOL I thrive on it! LOL
I am at work as I do this; awfully slow today. I only have two patients, and both are getting ready to be transferred. Tottie Weatherspoon is getitng ready to be moved to a rehab facility, and Aurora Skydancer is getting ready to go to a nursing home. Both are doing better than they were, but they both face long recoveries.
Soon I will have no patients; that, however, never lasts long. Before too long I will get new patients to fill their place, and I will be busy once again. Who knows how many patients I will end up with this time??
I am on break; am on break until 11:00 today, then go back to the mines until 2 today. That's only a little less than four hours away; have been here since seven. Hopefully I won't end up doing a double; seems that I have been doing lots of those lately!
The weather here is sunny and warm, temps in the sixties to lower seventies, really spectacular. We may be in for some rain (or the possibility of severe weather) this weekend; Lord, I pray not! I hate severe weather!

Karen, I haven't commented on all your stories posted recently, but congratulations on such entertaining work. They would make a wonderful book. Glad to see you up and about. Love your new pic on your bio page too. You keep going, girl!
