My mother left me and my siblings with our father when I was only two years old. My father left me and four of my siblings in a house alone when I was seven years old, which eventually ended up with no food, no gas, no lights, no phone, no water, and a broken lock on the front door. Eventually, the state authorities took us from the house and I lived in a foster home for three years. My father got me out of the foster home when I was ten years old and I lived with my older sister from the age of twelve until I was 18. I had gotten pregnant out of wedlock at 17 and began to live on my own at age 18. Raising my two children as a single parent, I managed to go back to college at age 26 while working a full time job. I went from earning a certificate in Clerical Science to recieving a PhD in Christian Counseling. My childhood exprience of my mother leaving, never to return, left me with feeling of rejection and insecurity. I dealt with these feelings by writing poetry and songs. Eventually, I had a collection of over 200 poems and over 35 songs. While I have always gone to church, I totally gave gave my life to Christ when I was 26 years old. Just one year after giving my life to Christ, I realized that my writing was a gift from God...and my ministry! Currently, I receive and accept invitations to recite my poetry and give my testimony. I conduct book publishing workshops, educating writers who know nothing about registering their copyright and publishing their book. During the workshops, I encourage writers, offering them motivation to utilize the writing gift that God gave them. While I educate all aspiring authors, I have a special place in my heart for the gifted Christian writer who knows that God has given him/her something to share with the world, but, do not know where to begin. My ultimate mission is to continue to uplift, inspire, and motivate by making my empowering, educational, and inspirational messages available to the world!
Absolutely powerful and encouraging! I am new to AD and intend to publish my collection and testimony this year. My biggest frustration is funding the publishing fee. However, with the age of technology, God showed me a way to share His gift to me and I aim to do so responsibly.
