Johnny Sandusky writes a letter to his girlfriend in California.
Sunday, April 8, 2007, 4:30 a.m., D.S.T., Nashville, Tennessee (Easter)~
Dear Rebekkah Rachel~
Hey! This is Johnny! Happy Easter and Happy Passover to you and your family!
I can't sleep. I woke up with a pounding heart; mamma checked it, and she says that I am okay. Maybe it's becuase I have been keyed up about the Cantata, worrying about you, and stuff in general.
I don't know, but I hate it when my heart acts up like this; makes it harder for me to breathe.
Mamma says that if it doesn't slow down in an hour, she'll take me to the ER. I hope not; I don't want to spend Easter in a hospital! I've had enough of hospitals lately! Been in the hospital twice now in less than four months; was in the hospital in December for three weeks (my heart), and again just about two weeks ago, when I had a bad seizure.
NO MORE. No more needles, no more sticks, no more IVs, no more putrid food, no more tubes! GAD! :(
The Cantata has been going well, but last night the guy playing Jesus had a bit of an embarrassing situation happen to him, it cracked us all up, cracked the congregation up. He was up in the air during the part where Jesus ascends into Heaven, and his robe was tucked inside his pants; nobody realized it until he was up in the air. Let's just say he showed more than what was originally planned. :) It was funny, but I really felt sorry for the guy! LOL I am smiling now as I think about it. :)
I hear you are doing better than expected, that you are learning to do more things every day. I am so happy for you; you deserve all these miracles that God has been giving to you! I wish I could be there to celebrate right along with you! These long distance relationships are the pits!
I want to be with you every day; you are one of the reasons that make my life worth living. If it were not for you, my family, my faith in God, or my friends, I'd have given up the ghost long ago! I hate living with this disease called muscular dystrophy; no matter how hard I try, it rules my life. It is about all I think about, especially lately! :(
I go into the MDA clinic again in a week to see my doctor, and to have more tests. They want to take more blood; they've taken so much blood from me it's a wonder I have any left!! They also want to do another MRI, another EMG, another spinal tap, another EEG, and more stuff. It's an all day affair, and I HATE it!!
Oh, the doctors at the MDA clinic are nice enough, but I can think of better ways to spend my time or my days than having to endure. more. TESTS. GAD!! :( I am sick of doctors, I am sick of pills, I am sick of tests, I am sick of needles, and I am sick of being SICK. PERIOD. :( (I wish I could have one day where I knew what it is like to be WELL!)
What are ya doing for Easter? We are going to church this morning (two services, it's all Cantata), out to eat beforehand and after, then go home and hunt for Easter eggs. We do this every year. It's fun for the little kids, but personally, I find it to be a little lame; I'm too old for that stuff. After all, I AM a teenager, I have my reputation!
How is the weather there? Here it's COLD. We had some snow yesterday, not a lot, but enough to surprise us. It was snowing fat, fluffy flakes, and it was pretty, but it caught me off guard. It looked more like CHRISTMAS than Easter!!
Strange weather patterns going on here. It even snowed in TEXAS, according to the Weather Channel and the weather chat boards! Most of the country is shivering, so we aren't alone with this cold spell.
I'll be glad when it warms up for good; I am more than ready for it! (We were supposed to have Little League practice this weekend, but Coach cancelled it; said it was too cold, didn't want to risk the kids getting sick. I don't blame him.) We have practice again this weekend; hopefully it will be a lot warmer!
Please pray for my daddy, Bill Sandusky. He's having back surgery on Wednesday this week. He is getting very nervous about it. Pray there are no complications before, during, or after the surgery. Pray the surgery is successful, pray that the pain in his back stops for good. He's had a bad back for a long time, and it hurts me to see him suffering. Thanks!
I got into it with a kid at school before we let out for Easter break. He was teasing me, calling me "Gimp", really made me mad. I didn't say anything at first, but he kept goading me, and I felt I had to defend myself. I socked him in the face, got sent to the principal's office.
Now, I know violence isn't the answer (I think I hurt my hand more than the kid; my hand is still sore and bruised up from where I socked him), but the principal said that I had to defend myself somehow, that the thought was right, but what I'd done was wrong. The kid apologized to me, but it still hurts when people make fun of my being in a chair. I can't help that, it's not my fault that I have MD. It's just one of those things.
Well, Rebekkah, I am going to go now. I think my heart is slowing down; I don't feel as jumpy, and I don't feel as short of breath. (Course, the oxygen helps.) Don't think mamma has to call for an ambulance on me, thank goodness. Take care, Happy Easter and Happy Passover, and tell your family hi! I miss y'all, and I love you with all my heart and soul!
Will write to you soon! I PROMISE.
~Love, your boyfriend, Johnny. :)
