Tottie Weatherspoon continues to recover from an amputation of her leg after an accident. She is still having a hard time accepting the fact that she is now disabled.

Monday, 9 April, 2007, 4:52 p.m., D.S.T., Nashville, Tennessee, U.S.A.~

Dear Journal~

Tottie again. I am out of hospital now, now am ensconced in rehab, where I am undergoing more--bloody therapy.

Somehow I figured thiings would be easier once I got out of hospital; seems I was wrong. Every day the g.d. terrorists bother me; I wish they'd beg off and leavve me the hell alone!

I'm now walking again with a walking frame; the therapy guys are still working on me artificial leg; it isn't quite ready yet. Eventually I'll graduate to walking sticks (crutches, you call 'em here), but for now I'm on the walking frame. Should be interestin' when I get to the sticks!

Guess what. I sw something the other day I'd never seen before, something I'd never thought I'd see: snow. Yes, it snowed here in Tennessee, threw me for a loop, it did. Big, fat snowflakes, too: looked like feathers! Really pretty! (I took photographs of the snow to send to me mum Ina, me pop, George, and me brothers and sisters back home in Oz.)

I am still missing Oz: Nashville, Tennessee, ain't got nothin' on Sydney!

I miss me family, me chums, me Vegamite, me pad, me work--everything!! I miss warm sunny days, frolicking about at the barbie or on the beach, exploring underwater, just me old life, PERIOD. (I wonder just how  much I'll be able to do once I recover!) Now me life isn't the same; I am having difficulties in dealing with it.

I talked with me nurse, Louisisna Sandusky, the other night: she was wondering how I was "getting along" (her words, NOT mine). It was good to hear from her. I cried buckets of tears as I told her my story; she sympathised with me, said she understood how I was feeling. Louie is on vacation; she'll be back in a week-and-a-half. (I miss her, I really do!)

Louie invited me to go with her to church next Sunday. I don't know if I'll go; you see I'm an agnostic; I really don't believe in God. Never have, probably never will. Still, it is nice of her to think of me.

Well, this isn't much, but me gam is hurting again; think I'll lie down for a while after I take a pain pill. Will write in here another day. Take care!

~Tottie Ruth Weatherspoon. :(

Hopefully me next write will be more positive; I've dumped enough gloom and doom on you. Sorry about that, but I'm depressed. (Can you blame me??)

I really feel bad for Tottie.. Hopefully she'll adjust with Gods and the threapists help. There are artifical legs that look almost real. Its really grand that you write about the special events that affect so many in every day life.....M

Poor Tottie, still full of so much anger. Hopefully she will be able to accept her circumstances and find some good in where she is at this time. Great write!

Very real feelings and emotions from someone so young who would be struggling with such a loss.

Karen,

I heartily second your Twin's sentiments!
And I am rooting for Louie, and a possible forthcoming salvation...no?

Enjoyed this, Sister!

happy Easter Karen, as usual your stories are so realistic, I just read a story where one of the characters only had one arm, the character was a jerk though, the world would really be better off without people like this character, like missing a whole body, null and void
