Dear Journal~

Bonjour, mes amis! Comment ca-vas? J'suis tres bein, merci beaucoup!

It's me, Genevieve Marie Voisin. Remember me? If my name don't ring a bell, ask Louis'siana Sandusky. She'll tell you who I am. I used to work wit' her; in fact, I was the one who trained her in the art a' nursin'.

Now I'm retired (an' tired! LOL). I'm also a widow. My husband, George, died las' year due to a stroke; he was 77 years old. I miss him so much; I can't look at his picture wit'out cryin'.  He died last fall; it was so sudden. I am still in shock over his passin'; if it weren't for my friends at my new home at the senior apartments where I live, I'd a' gone crazy long ago.

Now I'm busy wit' my friends. I spend my days playin' bingo, canasta, gin rummy, or bridge wit' the ladies, flirt wit' the men (just kiddin'!). I am gettin' ready to on my first cruise; we are goin' to Alaska in a few months. I'm a lookin' forward to it; I never been anyplace else but Lou'siana (my birt' place) or Tennessee (a' course!). This should be interestin' to this ol' Cajun gal! *grins*

I am now walkin' wit' a cane, ol' art'ritis settin' in my body. I hurt all the time, I never stop wit' the pain. Sometimes it is enough to make me cry, but I try to go on. I have to; I have too much to do, too much to see, too much to enjoy in life! :)

Since last year, I have gone to Branson wit' my landlord and hrr family, an' I am gettin' ready to go on my Alaska cruise. I have also been to th' Grand Ole Op'ry here in Nashville, saw my fav'rite singer a' all time, Loretta Lynn. Hoo manh, was she ever purty! She had on a lovely green gown, an' her hair was up; she really looked elegant, like a movie star! I even got to meet her after th' show; oh, ye' yaie, was I ever excited! I got so excited upon meetin' her I cried, jus' like a li'l fille! LOL
