Chapter Four     

            The Trip To Starry Hill

Today sure is going to be exciting, says Donald to his parents. Why is that , asks his dad. Our class is taking a trip to Starry Hill , to visit an indian tribe today, replies Donald. Well you have fun, and you can tell us all about it when you get home from school today, says his mom.

When Donald gets to school he see's all of his friends and they all start talking about the trip today to Starry Hill. I have never seen a real indian tribe before, says Annie . I have only read about them in books from our library, says Lori. I did not even think that there were indians anymore, says Joseph. I especially did not think they would be around her, says Brittney. I wonder if there are very many of them in Starry Hill? asks Donald. Don't know just have to ask Mrs.AppleWhite.

Here comes Mrs. AppleWhite , says Michael. Well good morning class, are we ready for our trip to Starry Hill ? asks Mrs. AppleWhite. We sure our, reply the kids. Well let's get ready to go then, grab your lunch and line up in the hallway, so we can get on the bus together,  says Mrs. AppleWhite.

When they start getting closer to Starry Hill ,  they spot the tribe just up ahead of them, and waiting for them to arrive . They are greeted by the Cheif of the Kenmia Indians, his name is Chief Wolf Star, says Mrs. AppleWhite to the children.

Well children , everyone off the bus in a single file line , wait for me beside the bus, says Mrs. AppleWhite. Now everyone say hello to Chief Wolf Star of the Kenmia Indians, says Mrs. AppleWhite.

 Hello children, we have been waiting for your arrival, says Chief Wolf Star. We sure do appreciate you letting us visit you and your tribe, and taking the time to show us some of the things you do , says Mrs. AppleWhite.

First, I would like to introduce you to my family , this little one her beside me is my daughter, Shiea, and this one over here on my other side is my son , MoonStar, and here comes my wife LionStar, says Chief Wolf Star to the children and Mrs. AppleWhite.

Who is that over there by that other tee-pee? asks Brittney. Oh that is Rain Star , he is getting some firewood gathered up for this evening, and standing beside him is his daughter Ania, and his wife Morning Star, replies Chief Wolf Star. Over there in that tee-pee ( pointing to the right of them) is my mother's tee-pee , her name is Kayia Star, she is a wonderful storyteller, she knows of many things, would you like to start of hearing one of her stories, he asks the childern. Sure , that would be great , says the children.

Okay , so he takes the children over to his mother's tee-pee and introduces her, and then she begins telling them a little story.

Well hello, come closer so you can hear me , says Kayia Star. Do you like stories, she asks them. We sure do, reply the kids.

So Kayia Star proceeds into telling the children a story , while Mrs. AppleWhite talks to Chief Wolf Star, about their visit today.

After her story the children have some lunch and then the girls go and meet up with Shiea Star and Ania Star to learn how to make a bracelet from buck skin and the boys go over with Moon Star and Rain Star to watch them skin a deer and learn to make a bow and arrow from wood. While Mrs. AppleWhite sits and talks to Lion Star and Morning Star.

This sure is fun, says Connie. How did you learn to make these bracelets? asks Brittney . Our grandmother showed us , we also know how to make dolls from using nothing more than deer skin and a needle and this teenew thread, replies Ania Star. I just think this is so neat, says Lori. I wonder if the boys are having as much fun as we are , says Annie. I would think so , cause this is so neat, replies Brittney.

After the girls get done making their bracelets with Shiea and Ania they go over to where the boys are with Rain Star and Moon star so they can finish meeting the rest of the tribe and see what the boys are getting to make .

Okay kids,  gather around we have a few more tribe members for you to meet and that would like to meet you, says Mrs. AppleWhite. Will you do the honors of introducing us ? asks Mrs. AppleWhite.  This is Mia Star, she is Claw Star's wife , he at the present time is gone off hunting , she is also the healer of our tribe, Mia Star also helps us to learn about our visions and our guardian spirits, says Chief Wolf Star. 

Well that is everyone in our tribe and I am sorry that Claw Star wasn't here for you to meet, he and his son Little Star, are expected back any day from hunting , says Chief Wolf Star.

Well children did  you have a good time today , asks Mrs. AppleWhite. We sure did, reply the kids. Can we come back and visit again this was so much fun, asks Donald and Cynthia. Sure, we would like that, replies Mia Star. It was so wonderful meeting all of you and thank you again for allowing us to visit, says Mrs. AppleWhite.

When they arrive back at CuddleVille Elementary Mrs. AppleWhite tells the children to go on inside to gather up their books and things and that she would be right in.

Okay, I want you children to write and tell me all about your experience at Starry Hill today, and have it ready to turn in to me tomorrow and we will have a discussion time and that is all , class is dismissed and I will see you all tomorrow , says Mrs. AppleWhite.

So the children all go home and start on their reports after they share their experience today with thier parent's.
