A doctor with a physical disability starts a personal journal to write out his deepest feelings.

Dear Journal~
Dr. Wright here. I am sorry for not writing sooner, but I have had a lot to deal with. I hope you understand.
First of all, we are having problems with Mwugu, our newest adopted child from Africa: he is still having problems with English, he had a seizure that required a two-day stay in the hospital; it has been a nightmare! Rheese Charles could care less; for one thing, he is too young; the girls are fine. Hope things settle for Mwugu; he's so scared; it breaks my heart. My sister, Audrey Callaway, and her family are moving here to Nashville from California. Seems that her new husband, Rick, has gottan a job transfer, so this is why the family is moving here. I am looking forward to getting to know them better and seeing them on a regular basis. I have only been able to talk to Audrey via the telephone or via e-mail; so this is an exciting time for me.
Healthwise, I am doing pretty good. I have been having some back pain, but that's not unusual, since my kidneys are so messed up. I haven't had any kidney infections (knock on wood), but they are still abnormal. I have been using my wheelchair or scooter a lot, more than my crutches, which is my usual mode of transportation.
The girls are growing like weeds: it seems hard to believe that it has been over a year since we adopted them from China. They are learning English at an incredibly fast rate, and have settled into the American way of life. They have taken to Mwugu, their new brother, but they are sad that he is acting scared. They want to be his friend, his buddies; he wants to have nothing to do with them. He'd much rather be left alone (or with mommy or me, of course).
The weather has settled down: a few days ago we had storms come through, but the really nasty stuff went east of here. I had a few shingles peeled off my roof, and some limbs strewn about the yard, but Sarah and the girls got it all cleaned up. I did get some golf in earlier today at the golf course; it was a really pretty day: partly cloudy and highs in the upper sixties to lower 70's, really beautiful weather.
I will be writing to Audrey before too long, ask her exactly when she is coming to Nashville. I want to be there at her new place when they get there, be their welcoming committee. I jsut hope she takes to me, and I hope she doesn't get mad at me for not writing back sooner. I have been busy; I'm a doctor; what free time I do have is very limited. She has to realize that, as do many other people.
I will write in here again; take care, and God bless!
~Dr. Charles Wayne (Wayne) Wright, MD. :)
