Now the severe weather threatens Ohio and the Midwest, where this story takes place. God be with our family and friends there; may they be safe...

My name is Georgie. Georgie Ross. I live in Mansfield, Ohio, in the northcentral part of the state; right now I am wriitng this on my laptop (via batteries) by candlelight. We are getting some fierce storms; it seems that as soon as one storm exits and moves on, another one quickly takes its place, with more flooding rain, more intense lightning, more deafening thunderclaps, even the threat of tornadoes and large hail.

I am sitting in the basement with my parents Amy Alcott and George (Sr.) and my little brother Ethan, who is only five (I'm 11), praying like thunder that we get through this stormy period in one piece. We are  under tornado warnings and storm warnings; the weather is really untense, and it is scaring the bejesus outta' me (not to mention my little brother, who is hanging onto me like a little leech).

The weather is being caused by a stalled warm front which is sitting north of us along the lake (Erie) and the lower part of Michigan; storms keep forming along this front, and they are of the supercell variety, very severe thunderstorms, even to the point of being tornadic. Not a good night to be outside!

Oh, GOD! That was close; it sounded like lightning hit the house right outside the window. I saw a brilliant flash; better get on out of here before I run the risk of getting struck...I will write in here later; bye!

~Georgie Ross (aged 11).

Later~

The storms have finally moved on out of here; no damage in my particular area, but there were numerous funnel clouds sighted at the hieght of the storms, and we are without power. I wonder if we had any damage to our house, to our roof, to our backyard, to our vehicles...I pray my neighbors are safe, and I pray my friends are, too. It would be awful if something happened to them; I don't know what I'd do if I heard that they were hurt or killed...

I hear on my little radio (tuned into WMAN, the premier station here in the North Central Ohio area), and they are talking about the weather. Here there were some damage reports hree, also around the surrounding area. I hope nobody was hurt or killled; all of a sudden I feel extremely nervous, nauseaous.

I will have to go out later (if there's no chance of rain here tomorrow) and see what the storm's done when they came through (seems like they'd NEVER leave!!). I am dreading what I may find in the morning...

~Georgie Ross (tornado survivor).

That pictue is some more sight. I bet I'm more afraid of that kind of lightening than Georgie Ross who tells the story about it. My sister lived in Ohio and I don't recall her ever mentioning lightning storms such as that.

Nice story---er...weather report.

The changing weather makes one really wonder about global warming. Going through these storms must be frightening at times. Nothing can stop tornados( unfortunately)......M

A very emotional write dear friend, you've captured the spirit of the eleven year old well. I could feel the fear of the unknown in her voice! Kept me on pins and needles the entire write...enjoyed!
