Bill has just woken up; he is trying to recover from the Crawfish Festival, where he and his family have been for the past few days. One more day to go, and then he and the gang head on back to Tennessee to continue recovering. They had a wonderful time, as you can imagine.

Dear Journal~
Bill here. Just woke up not even fifteen minutes ago; am sitting on the edge of the bed, peckin' away on the laptop. The little woman is lying in bed, beside me, purring like a baby kitten. She looks so cute when she sleeps: makes me wanna' kiss her--right on her little nose! :)
We have been having fun at the Crawfish Festival. Today's the last day; then we start packin' up and heading for home to Tennessee. We have seen many of our favorite Cajun groups performing: "BeauSoleil", Jamie Berzas/"Cajun Tradition", Belton Richard, Sheryl Cormier, others. I have gotten some dancing in (mainly the waltz; tried to do the Cajun two-step, my back hissed, had to stop. *OW* Never dance the Cajun two-step when one is recovering from back surgery and/or is wearing a back brace! LOL)
In my case, I do the "Cajun FOUR-step": my two feet, my two crutches. LOL
The music was good, and the food was even "good'er". *grins* O, so much Cajun food to be had--crawfish fixed any way you want: fried, in the shell (boiled), peeled, crawfish dogs, crawfish jambalaya, crawfish pie, crawfish gumbo, crawfish etouffee', crawfish done any way you like. YUMMM! :P (Makin' me HONGRY just thinkin' of it! :) )
Unfortunately, due to us being here, we couldn't make it to church. Will have to make some time before we go to pray and/or read God's Word. Start the day off right, you know?? I hate to miss church, but we go to the Crawfish Festival every year; it's a "must-do" thing with my wife. Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, is home to her; she was born here; she has gone to the Crawfish Festival since she was a little child; she has missed very few of them.
When she met me, she endocrinated me into her Cajun world, went to my first one when I was seventeen, been going ever since. When the kids started coming, once they were settled in, they started coming, too. Now the kids keep coming, and we take the newcomers to the festival, and they really like it. Most have never seen anything like this, don't know what it's all about, but it isn't long before they are caught up in the Cajun excitement and enjoying themselves! :)
Every year the Crawfish Festival gets bigger and better: more and more people discover it, and the bigger the bands, the people flock to hear the best in Cajun and zydeco music, and enjoy the best in Cajun cuisine or dancing. Crawfish is king here, and when it comes to having a good time, Breaux Bridge pulls out all the stops, to ensure a "bon ton rouler" for her guests. The Crawfish Festival is the biggest draw here, and it is one of the 20 top events in the state of Louisiana--and beyond.
People from all over the world come to the Crawfish Festival.
Yesterday afternoon Ronee' performed with her band, "Cajun Spice"; she and the gang did a super job. She had the audience screaming for more. We were so proud of her; she is getting better and better with her singin' and playin'. She knows how to entertain a crowd; has done so ever since she was really little.
Johnny was aother crowd pleaser: he performed with Belton Richard, and he did a super job, too. When people heard him play and sing, they forgot he is in a wheelchair; they couldn't believe the talent coming from his slight body. Johnny had the audience movin' and groovin' as well, and we were so proud we liked to have near busted with pride for our little guy! :)
Now our two "stars" are crashed out in their bed, snorin' like kittens. They look adorable. Good for them; they deserve to rest; poor darlings are exhausted!
The weather here has been beautiful: a little on the muggy side, perhaps, but nevertheless, picture perfect, just fine festival weather. No storms to worry about, unlike parts of the country (the Southern Plains), which have been rocked by bad weather lately; they need a break, especially Kansas, which was hit by a monster tornado on Friday, killed nine, injured more, some critically. Will have to pray for those poor people, pray the Lord keeps 'em safe from further death and destruction from Mother Nature's killer winds. Pray for a break from all this bad weather; they are probably shellshocked by now!
Well, I am going to pray now, also read the Bible; since I can't get to church I'm gonna' have "chu'ch" here, right in my hotel room at the Red Roof Inn! :) Take care, and will write in here again soon! God bless you mightily!

That Crawfish Festival sounds like a major and intereting event. "Bill's Journalings" makes me want to run out and buy some of those zesty tasting foods. An interesting read. Blessings to you.
This is interesting because this story brings aspects of the Cajun heritage to life. To me, The Crawfish fish festival is from a completely different world, and your descriptive writing enables the reader to instantly visualise it. It all seems quaint, old fashioned and alien in a charming way. Your writing is also educational. Old World 'traditional' values (like bible reading) weaved into the story indicates a different, more innocent age. A cultural eye-opener, which illustrates a fascinating slice of life.
Wonderful write and I must see you are giving us all a lesson in the different cultural celebrations of the summer. My Acadian heritage cries out to go to this one.
