Louisiana writes in her journal before heading home from work. (She uneexpectedly got called in by her supervisors, but is now to be off for the next two-and-a-half days.)

Dear Journal~
Luuie here.
I am counting down the minutes: my day (morning??) at work is nearly over. I was in bed last night when the phone rang. It was my supervisor. He called me, asking me to come in, two of the uurses didn't show. I said "Yes". So here I be. :) Always glad to give 'em a hand when they need it; shows the hallmark of a good, faithful, dedicated worker. :)
The hospital was rather busy last night; usually is on Friday or Saturday night. Had a lot of drunks roll through the ER doors, I was working ER for a while, then the supe had me go to MICU, where I dealt with a woman who'd been in an MVA. She suffered a fractured pelvis and may be paralyzed down the road. Things not looking good for her. She's in rough shape.
If she makes it, it will be a miracle.
When I checked on her this morning, she was still in a stuperous state. I wonder if she suffered a head injury; neurologist's in there now, checking on her, examining her. We'll see what he says.
I can't put my finger on it, but hubby and the kids are acting mighty secretive about something. It's really starting to bug me. They look at me and smile, then disappear on me, lots of whispering going on. I wonder what the dears are up to: I wonder if it has something to do with a certain holiday called: M O T H E R'S D A Y...
Could be...Hmmmm...I'll be good and not try to act suspicious; that way they won't know that I am on to their little game. *grins*
I think we're about recovered from the Crawfish Festival. I do know this much: Johnny is burnt to a crisp. He looks like he could have been ONE of the Cajun food entries; he is awfully red! LOL Poor dear; he's never been able to tan. He just burns. (Load 'im up with extra aloe and sunscreen, Louie, remember that in the future! LOL)
Johnny is jealous of Ronee' and the others blessed with darker skin: they don't burn as easily; they have turned a lovely nut brown. They look rather healthy...Meanwhile, poor Johnny, Trude, Bjorn, and Janica: they are red, red, RED! LOL
Bjorn is starting to settle in; he is still aloof, shy, scared at times, but the therapy is helping. He is getting used to his new surroundings, and he is getting used to us. He hugged me the other day, made tears come to my eyes. He is finally learning how to demonstrate his emotions, how to give love. It's very touching, very heartwarming. :)
Little Emir is getting used to his prosthetic arms and legs; he is starting to get around really good now. I am trying to work with him, teaching him not to use his prosthetic limbs as weapons. He threw his legs across the room at Arjun after Arjun took his toy away. Luckily, Arjun wasn't hurt, but I had to reprimand both boys, Arjun for taking the toy, and Emir for throwing his legs at his brother. LOL
Life is NEVER dull at the Sandusky place...THAT is for true ! LOL
The weather is iffy: scattered showers, have been in a rainy pattern for months, it seems like. Pesky lows keep coming; I keep wishing they'd go AWAY! I am tired of storms, tired of rain, tired of being cooped up in the house, trying to entertain fifty plus bored kids! LOL
YIKES. LOL
Kendra is doing well, Audrey, too. Audrey out of the hospital, she got dehydrated and worked herself into exhaustion. Something I may do if I don't quit going like sixty...better slow down, Louie, if you know what's good for you...
Heard from my new Hawai'i friend Theresa Nagasaki. She sent me a beautiful letter that had a gorgeous shot of a rainbow over the mountains; it was breathtaking! I will have to write to her within the next few days while I'm off.
Whoops! Have a little less than fifteen minutes before I get on OUT of here. Gonna' check on my patients one more time, grab myself a bagel and some Cajun coffee before I head home. Until next time, dear Journal, take care, and God bless! Talk to you soon~
Enjoyed this offering, I agree with Sage, I enjoy reading these entries, and also have learned much from the stories. Enjoy these very much!
Blessings,
Joyce Bowling
Great to hear from Louie, the great, dedicated worker she is...she knows the injuries and medical traumas. I've learned many things over the years reading these entries...I always try to place faces with the names...Happy Mother's Day, Louisiana! Thanks for the letter today, Karen Lynn.
Hello Karen! I'm so glad you are writing stories about life. There is tremendous sense of love and caring and sentiments in this piece. Sometimes, it doesn't matter how much we make in monetary terms that makes us happy, it's the value of ourselves that give to help others that counts.
hello Karen, great story, the ending made me hungery, it's morning here and I was just thinking about some coffee and donuts, hey a good bagel will do also, don't know if I've ever had cajun coffee, makes me want to try it

The familiar lament of dual-career parents raising children is, "I just can't do it all." The Libra Solution provides an alternative - a more satisfying and sustainable work and life approach - to the overwrought modern day norm.
