Aurora Skydancer is coping as best as she can with ongoing therapy and her new living quarters at a local nursing home.

Monday, May 14, 2007, 8:21 p.m., D.S.T., Nashville, Tennessee~

Dear Journal~

It's me. Aurora, as in Aurora Skydancer.

I am still at the nursing home, still undergoing physical torture (I mean THERAPY), still puttin' up with bullshit from the docs and nurses. The only nurses that seem to care are Louisiana Sandusky and Gloria M. Trainor. Also Genevieve Vwasan (I can't spell her name, but that is what it sounds like; I spelled it as it sounded! LOL). Also doctors Weaver, Brady, Wright, and Arjoowall. They aren't too bad; at least they aren't an old sourpuss like Dr. Stryker! He's the WORST! No bedside manner whatsoever; he's terrible!!

I think the nurses need to give him an IV bag od compassion, STAT!!

That, or Drs. Wright or Brady could whop him upside the head with their crutches; might teach him a thing or two! LOL

Suddenly I don't feel so bad seeing Drs. Brady or Wright. Both are obviously physically disabled, but their crutches or problems don't seem to stop them any. They move pretty good down the halls, and they have good attitudes about them. That gives me a sense of hope. Maybe I can do things once I lose this weight.

That's another thing. I have been working hard to lose this excess weight. It's not fun being short of breath, feelin' like you're going to die at any minute. Not being able to breathe is a scary feeling; a feeling I wouldn't wish on anyone!

I've lost five pounds. Still have a ton of weight to go before I look halfway decent. Been watching my carbs, been watching my caloric intake. Not easy, but I am going to try my best to eat better, take care of myself better.

I guess you can say I had an epiphany or somthing. I saw myself in a few years fatter'n fat, tethered to a breathing tube, and it scared the hell outta' me. I don't want to wreck my health any more than it already is. So I am trying to do something about it, which is unlike me.

Maybe I've gotten some sense knocked into me while in the hospital. Or maybe the nurses just drilled it into my thick skull that I need to take better care of myself. Maybe the recent heart attack I had was a good thing? I don't know, but all of a sudden I feel a need to take care of myself better.

I got a letter from a lady living in Arizona named Windy Piestala. She is Native like me, Hopi Indian (I think).. maybe it was Navajo; it is one of those tribes in that area of the world. She has a lot of physical problems, and she lost a daughter, aged 16 1/2, to kidney disease last year. She is still very sad. She sounds very lonely. She told me in her letter that she writes to Louisiana Sandusky but Louie hasn't written her back, that she owes her a letter.

I will have to tell Louisiana Sandusky that next time I see her.

I may be getting out of here in a few months, depends on how well I do with my weight loss compaign and my therapy. I hope to get out of here; I don't like being in a nursing home. The food's lousy, and I feel like such a baby among all these blue haired people! Some of them are really old; there's a lady here who is 110 years old! She is really ancient looking! There's also a guy, 105, who has the hots for me; he is always stopping by my doorway, and blows me kisses, and whispters lewd sayings to me. It's highly embarrassing!

Well, I am going to get ready to go to bed; getting sleepy all of a sudden. Think the meds are starting to kick in. I will write in here again; take care, and may the Great Spirit bless you!

~Aurara Skydancer. :) *In a better mood lately*

Karen, An entertaining write and exposure to what goes on in nursing homes ie unmannerly nurses, and romance potential! Losing weight is indeed a challenge. I'm still trying to lose the four pounds I gained on my last holiday. :)

Aurora sounds like she's in a better frame of mind; good on her! Starting to move, starting to lose weight, starting to accept her situation and change it for the better. Well done, Karen, I look forward to reading more of Aurora's journalings!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
