Louisiana is trying to cope with some big changes, good and bad, in her life and in the lives of her friends.

Dear Journal~
Louisiana here again. I am sorry if I haven't written, but with getting ready for Fan Fair (plus working double duty all last week, plus this past weekend), taking care of my folks, my hubby, and the village LOL, and running to and from the hospital to visit Audrey (she is now breathing on her own, without the aid of a ventilator, but she is still in very critcial condition; she had some complications following her surgery, which was on Tuesday), I haven't had much time to do hardly anything.
I hope you understand.
I am really worried about Audrey, let alone, Susie. Just this past Monday she was so happy and full of life: now she lies in the Neuro ICU, fighting for her life. She may have sustained some brain damage, according to her primary neurologist, Dr. Stryker. Not good news. I don't know what Rick or the kids will do if they were to lose Audrey; I am sure they'd all be devastated (as we all would). Audrey has been through so much in her life these past two years; it's not fair that she has to go through yet more tragedy!
To see Audrey lying there in Neuro ICU, hooked up to tubes, looking so helpless, so lifeless is enough to bring me to tears. I don't know when I've done so much crying as I have done these past several days.
I pray to God for a Miracle; Lord knows, the entire Callaway family could use one (or two)!
Susie must be devastated not having her mom with her. She is going through a rough time emotionally and physically; I am sure she is terrified about what may happen, and I don't know if she is emotionally (or physically) capable of handling any more bad news in her life. She is now staying with friends while her mom fights for her life in the hospital.
Tonight, after we get home from the CMA Festival, Ronee' is going to spend the night at Rebekkah Cohen's house. It will be good for her; she has really missed seeing her. I hope she has a good time. She is worried about Susie too; just the other day she was asking me if God hated Susie Callaway because of all the stuff she's had to endure in her life. It nearly made me cry when she asked me that. I couldn't really give her a straight answer.
The weather here is hot and humid: summer is nearly here in Nashville. There's a huge crowd for the CMA Music Festival, and we've had fun the past few hours. (It started today, and it goes on until Sunday.) We've already met several of country music's hottest stars: Loretta Lynn (who made a surprise appearance), Keith Urban, Brad Paisley, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood (the "American Idol" champion from two years ago), Reba McEntire, Garth Brooks, Joe Diffie, Collin Raye, Ronnie Milsap: just too many to mention.
Even met some bright up and comers in country music including young yodeling sensation Taylor Ware (who made a big splash on last season's "America's Got Talent"), Lindsay Haun, Gary Allen, Jason Aldean, Bucky Covington, and others.
We have our autograph books armed and ready, and the kids are having a ball meeting their favorite performers. It takes their mind off what is going on with Audrey Callaway, and that is always a good thing: with all the bad news we've heard lately, we could really use a break.
Tonight we may get some rain, but that's okay. It's pretty dry here in the Nashville area, dry all over the southeast. We are in a drought situation; we could really use some needed liquid moisture. The grass is turning brown, the leaves are starting to die on the trees, and if we don't get any relief soon, cows and other livestock may start perishing from the dry conditions. Meanwhile, the poor Plains State can't get a break from the weather pattern: they've been inundated with flooding rains for the past month or so, and I am sure they are about sick of it by now.
Kendra had her babies last week: she had one boy (Trevor) and three daughters (Melissa, Sarah, and Theresa). All the babies are amall, but they are (as far as we know) healthy. A miracle in their lives to be sure; God is so good to those who believe! Wait until church hears about this; they are going to go wild with joy!! :)
Kendra and Louisa are both doing well: Louisa is out of the hospital, gaining needed strength every day, and is taking it easy since her heart attack. Her friends have been coming over, giving her a needed helping hand while she recovers. Kendra is now the mama to nearly 30 children, and she hasn't had any more problems with her spina bifida, thank the Lord! :)
I heard from Katrina Delchamps: she is now settled in Alaska with her new husband, Frank Hammer, and they had a wonderful time on their cruise (and during their wedding). She isn't sure if she likes the change in scenery, but I am sure Frank will help her adjust to her new surroundings. She says this, though: she is always cold! LOL (Kind of coolish up there in Fairbanks, highs in the 50's and 60's, whereas she is used to Louisiana highs in the upper 80's to lower 90's, with 90-100% humidity.)
I will have to write to her sometime this weekend (probably after Sunday, after the CMA Music Festival has ended).
Work has been going well (for the most part). I am glad I am taking a break until Tuesday; I really needed it! As I said earlier, I have been working plenty of overtime, including doubles, and I was getting pretty ragged around the edges! LOL Now I'm busy chasing kids and country music stars! LOL
My pregnancy is going well as can be expected: I see my doctor on Tuesday after I get off work; hopefully I'll continue to have a good report. On the 8th, I'll officially be two months pregnant. Hard to believe I'm nearly past the first trimester; it won't be long before I start showing some stomach! LOL Then oh, how the questions will fly!! WHEE! LOL
Still have morning sickness, but I'm armed with Dilaudid and some toast to take away the worst of the nausea; I know how to handle it. Just have to be careful not to get around too many cookies, or I'll lose it! LOL Yet once the morning passes, I'm good for the rest of the day. It's really weird, this morning sickness!
Watched a cute movie prior to going to Fan Fair: "Over The Hedge" with Bruce Willis and Wanda Sykes. It's adorable, and funny. We laughed thorughout a good portion of it, especially when the skunk (Stella) sprayed the house after saying, "Fire in the hole!", and you then see green clouds of smoke emerging from every window (plus the door). The kids screamed with laughter during that part; I am sure the neighbors must have heard them carrying on. They were rather loud, especially Johnny, who nearly fell out of his wheelchair, he was laughing so hard.
Well, I am going to go now; more star hoppin' until we leave at six; then we drop the kids off at the house, and I'll run by the hosptial to see Audrey. Hopefully she is continuing to improve; all we can do is pray--and believe for that miracle we are seeking! Until later, this is Louie signing off! Take care, and God bless!

Wow. Louisiana working all those overtime shifts. Too much for me. She truly lives life to the fullest every day. God bless the family. I hope Audrey makes it. (Hint, hint). thanks for sharing. Liz
This story exemplifies many peoples' lives--Despite the sadness of sick or ill family members, they still manage to find joy such as the Festival, the pregnancy, the movie,etc. Well done, Karen.
