Jennifer Kaylin updates us on what is going on in her brand new journal. (Unbeknownst to her there will be big changes ahead in her life.)
Dear Journal~
It seems that everyone I know is doing "the journal thing": my partner, Terri, friends Louisiana Sandusky, M'Buti Sormiento, Corinne Adams, my doctors--everybody!! So I asked myself, why not me?? So, here goes~
I'm Jennifer. Jennifer Kaylin Steele-Leroi. I live in Tennessee, in Nashville, with my lover/partner Terri Monique Leroi, and our (adopted) seven-and-a-half year-old son, Ant'won Marcus, who has been nothing but a joy in our lives. My partner works at a sports bar at night, but spends the days taking care of our son and myself.
I cannot work: I am 100% disabled. I finally started getting my disability pay a little less than six months ago, after years of battling the system, trying to convince those bureaucratic thugs I cannot work again--period-- and am now a paraplegic, paralyzed from the waist on down. (I use a damn wheelchair, for God's sake!!) It's been a nightmare; I am so glad it's finally behind us!
Terri's folks are still living close by, yet they refuse to come see their only grandchild. They are generally being pains in the asses. They're still acting all "high and mighty".
Ever since we "came out of the closet" about our sexuality, they've been preaching to us about our "immoral lifestyle", about how "we are going to burn in hell for our sins". Frankly, we're both sick of it; now Terri is seriously considering severing ties with her parents because they are driving the both of us crazy!
A lot of people seem to have a huge problem with Terri and I being together. We're a couple, too, only we are two women who happen to love each other very much, and the reason Terri prefers women over men is because she was raped and doesn't trust men now (this is not known by her parents, by the way). As for me, I've never really felt comfortable around men; I've always felt more at ease with women than men; it's something that's been in me as long as I can remember.
People seem to think we shouldn't be together; some have gone as far as trying to break up our happy union by leaving "hate messages" in our e-mails or on our phone, or leaving hate mail in our mailbox or spray-painting anti-gay/anti-lesbian slurs on our property, which is always upsetting; but Terri and myself are tough, very tough, and this makes us all the more determined to stay together, particularly now that we have a small son to take care of.
Well, I will write in here again soon. I have a doctor's appointment in an hour; I certainly don't want to be late. Take care and talk to you again! Good-bye for now!
A bit behind on some of my reviews, but your work is always a pleasure to read...always offers the reader a glimpse inside others lives, and often leaves me with a feeling of being blessed and thankful for my health. Also leaves me with the thoughts of what a great teacher you would make my friend, you've got a talent that shines through, a gift of understanding individuals and their unique personalities, and needs. Write on!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

A wonderful story! I look forward to getting to know Terri and her family. It should be most interesting with this storyline! Keep up the great work!
Interesting new journal personality and look forward to reading more about this couple and their unique problems with dissabilities and family frictions.
Very well written and to the lifestyle point...it is an ongoing struggle, but our hearts guide the way and our spirituality and prayer gets us recognized as being "heard" by whatever godly force is out there...I look forward to more of Jennifer Kaylin's Journal...there are many avenues you can take with this...would be nice to see you incorporate religion into this situation with a peaceful outcome...you're the best, Karen Lynn, you and Karla...Blessed Be.
