As we get older, we often like to share a meal. Not so?
WE ALWAYS SHARE
Sitting in a town restaurant was an elderly couple. The waiter took their order of chips, a hamburger and two plates. One glass of wine was also requested.
When the meal was served the elderly man cut his hamburger in two. He pushed half of his chips with the half hamburger onto the empty plate. He handed his wife this plate. He placed the glass of wine between them and began to eat his meal. As he did so, his wife sipped the wine but did not lift her knife or fork.
At a neighbouring table, a young man carefully observed the sad couple. He took pity on them and offered to buy another meal for his wife. The offer was kindly refused. The elderly gentleman quietly and slowly continued to eat while his wife sat silently.
"I really must insist", said the young man. "Let me order another meal for you."
"No kind young man. We always share."
"Yes, but you are not eating madam."
"Don’t worry young man. I am waiting for his teeth."
