Louisiana Sandusky receives some unexpected news: she is carrying not one, but two babies, twins, both boys.

Dear Journal~
I found out yesterday that I am having, in terms of this baby I'm carrying. I'm not having a baby per se--I'm having BABIES!! More'n ONE!! I'm to be having TWINS!!!! So there will be 62 children in our family!! Two sons to carry on the Sandusky family name!!
As you can imagine, Bill is estatic. He is again walking around with his chest puffed out in fatherly pride. he's already alerted his brothers about the future nephews that they will be uncles to, and already Wal*Mart (where hubby works) is abuzz with the news of Bill's good fortune.
Me, I'm an emotional wreck!! That means I'll have to look for new clothes, new toys, new furniture geared for baby boys, or t hink of what to name not one, but two babies!! (YIKES!) I will have to stock up on diapers for newborns, make sure the boys will have everything they need once they arrive into the world! What a Christmas this is going to be!! New little boys to love!!
The children know too: most of them are happy, but some (like Ronee', Enriquesa, and Rani) are disappointed: all three girls were hoping for a little sister! Yet all are willing to love the new arrivals, so that's good! :)
We are getting a new foster child in a few weeks: a little six-year-old boy named Vincente (Vinnie), who has cerebral palsy and is in a wheelchair. He is really cute! Italian American with dark, wavy hair and big, brown eyes. Really adorabble! He is coming to us so he can get used to being in a family environment before he is put up for adoption to go to another family. His story is quite sad. He was the product of an unplanned pregnancy, then was born early (and brain damaged) when his birthmother fell while carrying him inside her belly. He lived with his birthparents for the first few months after getting out of the hospital, but the allegations of abuse surfaced when the boy was found lying in his own excrement and urine, with cigarette burns (and other suspicious scars) marking his tiny, malnourished body. He was immediately removed from the home and was instantly placed into the foster care system, where it is hoped that one day he'll end up being adopted. Permanently.
When I heard about Vinnie's early life, I cried. It is hard to believe that some parents can treat their very own children in this fashion! As a nurse, I've seen far too much in the way of abouse, what harm it can inflict on a child (or the family). It is a tragic cycle of violence that must be stopped as soon as possible: too many innocent little ones end up damaged for life (i.e., "shaken baby syndrome", broken bones that don't heal or heal right, brain injured, etc., even blind, deaf, or mute, or unable to walk--or worse, do anything for themselves) or even dead. It makes me want to hug, love on my own children all the more, be a more protective parent.
Johnny has his tests in two days (first his MRI scan in the morning, then his EMG test in the late afternoon); he is getting nervous. So are we: this is the day we'll find out if his muscular dystrophy is progressing or not. (Hopefully it is the former.) So far it seems as though his disease has been in a holding pattern, but with MD you can never know: things could change so quickly. All we can do is be there for him and offer him support during this scary, uncertain time in his life.
Well, I am going to have to run: Ronee' has to go to the Emergency Room. She is crying in pain; apparently she fell into a hole while getting the mail, and from the looks of her foot, she may have done something bad to it. (When she fell, she couldn't get back up.) It is really swelling up, and it is turning purple, blue, and black. It really looks nasty. I think she may have broken something in her foot. GREAT. Just what we don't need: another medical crisis!! YARGGG!!!
It is also fixin' to storm; sky turning blue-black with angry, roiling clouds. Better shut this off before I get zapped; not a good idea to be using a computer during a thunderstorm!!
Wow more twists in the plot, keeping it from getting boring that is for sure....

At least it's not a boy and a girl. That would complicate matters more. Vinnie's tale is a real sorrow, but I truly believe that there is a reason for everything. Onething is sure, the adoption shows that there are worthy people in this world. Victor

It truly is, and it's truly horrid, but thankfully, there are wonderful folks like you to love and care for them. And now - TWINS!!!!! I'm losing track of the numbers now!
Loretta Lynn's song, One's On the Way could apply here...I keep hearing the line, "Gee, I hope it ain't twins again" comes to mind, reading this one. LOL
Storms of emotion, of crisis, what a life Louisiana Sandusky leads! And then Ronee falls in a hole and turns her foot with a raging thunderstorm on the way...you know how to turn up the heat! Well done!
