A very angry Louisiana attempts to write a letter of apology to a friend she feels she has hurt with an insenstive comment she has made regarding the friend's daughter.

August 10, 2007~

Dear Audrey Callaway~

Again I find myself at a complete loss for words, shaking my head in disbelief. I have tried to reach out, be a friend to you, but it appears that I've stepped on far too many toes; now I find myself as the enemy.. It's obvious that Susie doesn't like me, and I'm sure you aren't exactly happy with me either. I am sorry if I even cared; I won't darken your doorstep ever again, if that is what you want.

Ever since Susie had her last medical crisis, she keeps finding new ways to destroy people's friendships. Now Johnny is in tears, Ronee' is scared Susie will do something bad to her (she got a very nasty e-mail from Susie), and I am getting scared of opening my big mouth for fear of saying the wrong thing--again.

If you want to be my friend, that's fine; if not, then that's okay, too. I can handle rejection. I've been in much worse scrapes than this--a whole lot worse. If you don't want to continue our friendship, I am more than willing to terminate it; this will be the last letter from me.

Yet what you fail to realize is this: I came to your aid when you went through Hurricane Katrina nearly two years ago. I opened my home to you and your family when you got well enough to be released from the hospital, and I even came to California to lend my support when Susie, Lacey, and Maria got kidnaped and turned up missing. If you are mad at me for not coming to your wedding, then I can fully understand, but we were in the middle of adopting some children, and we couldn't leave. But please don't accuse me of inane things I didn't even do! Do you think I'm a moronic Cajun hillbilly from the backwoods of Louisiana who doesn't know a goddamn thing?? Well, I'm not. I'm not stupid. I happen to be very intelligent; even went to college to become the nurse I am today!

And one more thing, Miss Audrey: please don't bring my family into your problems; we didn't do anything to you but try to be good, caring Christian friends! That was it. Nothing more.

I don't know if our friendship can be salvaged. Things between us have deterioated badly, and I am sorry if I even attempted to be your friend. I am sorry if I'm not the type of friend you desire, but my family's needs come first. As the mother to a child with special needs, I am surprised that you haven't realized this by now. I am surprised that you can't even get the help that Susie so desperately needs. You are only going to end up doing more damage to her, and then what are you going to do when things get out of control? I fear for your and your family! I thought you would understand; now it appears that you don't.

Well, on that note, goodbye. It was nice knowing you. May God have mercy on your souls, and do remember this: next time you need help, you just might not find that help when you really need it. Don't ask us for any more favors in the future beccause I won't be there, and neither will my family. You have hurt us for the very last time. Think very hard about what I am saying to you.

~Regardez~

I like how Georg questions with the apples and oranges theory.....for some reason when things are a moehill it spirals out of control and becomes a mountain......that's man for you!! Looks like Louie is taking a hard stand....

Well a down to earth sort of letter but I don't think a rift can be healed now. Pity. Great characterization as usual. Victor

Can't those two separate apples from oranges?
Seems that a little spark of triviality ignited an uncontrolable bush fire, tempers flare and someone is going to give and one can't always in righteousness take back the offered hand.
Forgiveness should be there, somewhere, or Katrina will still destroying lives.
