Weds., August 29, 2007 (two-year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina striking the Gulf Coast Region of the United States)~
Dear Journal~
Kat Hammer here. Have been crying for the past few days; anniversary of Hurricane Katrina being observed, still very difficult at best for me to deal with.
Frank watches the news on CNN, but as for me, I don't want anything to do with it, particularly now with the anniversary of that damfool hurricane being observed. I still cry everytime I think of what Katrina put me through. I guess this is one reason why I'm so glad I live in Alaska now--don't have to worry about things like hurricanes here; the only storms we get here are magnetic; the worst thing they can do is mess up your phone, your radio signals, and your Internet! LOL
I think back to what Katrina did, that I am very lucky to have survived under such hellish conditions, but I think God had a hand in my survival; there is no other way I can explain it. However, I am still plagued with nightmares two years later; just about every night I wake up with poetry running through my mind, and I have to get it down before it is lost forever. I also wake up screaming, and I am surprised Frank hasn't divorced me by now for all the screaming I've done! LOL
I tried to call Louisiana Sandusky, but no answer. I will have to e-mail her, see what is going on with her. My spirit tells me bad things have been happening to her; Lord, I hope she/Bill/the children aren't sick! I wonder if her phone's been disconnected--I will have to try to get in touch with her via the computer--
I am due by Christmas; I'm pregnant, having a little boy. He will probably be named after Frank (Frank Arthur Hammer, Jr.), but I also loke the names Clint Walker and Adonis Carmichael. Such strong, manly-sounding names! Frank is one happy man; he is walking around, chest poofed out like a peacock.
I hear Louisiana Sandusky is carrying twins; she is due around Christmas, too. She's having twin boys. I think that is wonderful; however, I think the state of Tennessee is going to start investigating her for adopting so many children (most with special needs!). There's gotta' be a limit to insanity, and I personally think Louie's gone off the deep end; she has to be insane to have all those children! Sixty children, soon to be 62: eGADS!! I still don't know how she does it without getting checked out somehow by CPS or the state of Tennessee!
Tried to write to Audrey Jackson-Callaway, but her letter came back. I know her daughter Susie has had an emotional breakdown, and is currently in a "catatonic-like state", not responding to anything--or anyone. She is currently in the hospital, in the ICU, fighting for her very life; it doesn't look good right now---
Well, gotta' go, gotta' pee. (TMI, Kat, TMI!! LOL) Take care, y'all!
~Love, Katrina ("Kat") Anne Delchamps (Hammer), Hurricane Katrina survivor. :(
