Dear Journal~
It is getting more difficult by the day: staying focused on taking care of the children (or my husband), trying to be a good mamma/wife/nurturer, trying to be a good friend when my own world is coming apart.
We are now in London, England, where specialists have been working with my daughter, Rebekkah. Rebekkah, as you know, suffers from pain insensitivity disorder, and she has been subjected to all kinds of tests. It is hard seeing my daughter have to go through so many pokes and prods by the docs; but miracle of miracles, she is finally starting to feel pain!
I don't know how we can celebrate something like pain, but in her case, it's a good thing, because her disability has caused her all sorts of serious medical complications (necrotizing fasciitis and other [lesser] infections, the amputation of both her legs, etc.).
We did get some good news this week, though, from Dr. Remington, her chief doc: he said that she will be able to dance again; Rebekkah hasn't danced in over a year, and I am sure she is itching to get back to it. She does have to be careful, and I worry about her falling or hurting herself. Maybe I need to back off, but I hate seeing her hurting herself or topplling over! It scares me.
Rebekkah's disease has progressed; this is one reason why we went to England in the first place. Basically, the docs back home gave up on her; said there was very little hope, and they said that her disease was terminal, which was highly upsetting. However, I wasn't going to buy into that, so we went to England after hearing about a doctor there who worked with kids with this disorder and had good results with his patients.
We thought, why not?? So this is why we are here in jolly olde England (though it hasn't been very "jolly" for us!).
I have also been dealing with my own medical challenges: I have a neuromuscular disorder called Frederich's ataxia, which is weakening my body, causing me to lose my balance, and requiring me to use a wheelchair (particularly during longer trips, like at the park, store, hospital, or zoo). Micah has been a dear through all this; yet I feel like I'm putting a huge strain on the family. It's bad enough we have a seriously ill daughter; I don't need my problems getting in the way, too!
Louisiana had been having problems of her own: Audrey Callaway, whom she met two years ago in Mississippi after the wake of Hurricane Katrina, had been sending her terrible letters and e-mails; basically, she's been blaming her for all of her problems when all Louisiana did was try to be a good friend to her.
Poor Louisiana! She has been a basketcase! She is carrying twins (yes, TWINS!), both boys, and I am worried if the stress she's under doesn't ease up soon, she is going to end up losing both babies. She is now homebound (bedrest, at the insistance of her doctor; if she does go out, she has to use a wheelchair); her doctor doesn't want her walking much.
Anyway, Audrey is seriously thinking of moving--just so she can get away from Louie and her family. She and Louie have been fighting like cats and dogs lately; it's been a regular mess!
I will have to continue to lift the Sandusky family in prayer. Lord knows, they need a miracle!!
I don't know why I let myself get so wrapped up in other people's lives like I do, but like Louie, I have a tender, compassionate heart, a caring spirit. I have always been like this, ever since I was a small child. I hate to see people hurting anyway, but especially if it is people I know, like my family, or my friends. It is very frustrating!
Well, if anything develops in any of these situations, I will let you know as soon as I can. Hopefully things will improve; I'm praying they will. (So far, it seems that they are; I pray this continues!) I was beginning to wonder if God was even listening to me when I prayed or if he even cared; but it looks like now that He DOES.
A realistic look at life through Naomi's journaling...with a wise message within, we can't hide from life or move away from it, but we've got to deal with issues at hand! Enjoyed this my friend!

The grass isn't greener on the other side, so Audrey should remember this when she thinks about moving - you can move away from friends in miles, but you can never move away from what's in your heart...I hope Audrey comes to her senses and her and Louis can patch things up - there's nothing like a "sister" in stormy or calm weather...this isn't the time to end a friendship when twins are about to be brought into this world...Audrey, are you listening?...thanks for the letter today, Karen Lynn...

Whew, yes a lot has/is taking place lately and the illnesses my goodness. These characters are full blown Karen perhaps there ought to be a television series with these characters~smile and take care now.
