Dear Journal~
It's me, M'Buti.
Sorry for not writing, but I have been busy taking care of the children; they keep me hoppin'. At times I feel like a toady-frog! LOL I'm so tired from chasing kids all day I don't know whether I'm coming or going!
I am doing okay, but not great. My heath isn't much to talk about: still having problems with my low blood pressure, my leg still won't work right, still having to use the crutches, still getting short of breath upon exertion--you get the picture. However, I have some new worries: I have been diagnosed with a potassium deficiency (one reason why I feel so worn down; I have to eat a banana every day, no, in fact, twice a day), I have thyroid trouble (it's underactive), and am anaemic. I have to have shots once a month to build up the iron in my blood, and eat foods that are rich in iron.
I also have asthma and allergies. I am allergic to pollen, grasses, mold, animal dander (which means we have to get rid of our animals), and dust. No wonder I have been sneezing/wheezing/gasping so much lately!
Let's face it: I'm a medical mess. :(
Speaking of medical news, I heard from Louie Sandusky: she called, she called to let me know that Johnny is doing better, but now Ronee' is in the hospital with a flare up of her arthritis. I was sorry to hear that, but happy to hear that Johnny is improving. She (Louie, not Ronee') is getting fatter by the day, and she said the boys inside her belly are getting more active by the day. Still on bedrest; has to remain in bed until the babies are born, according to her doctor.
Roberto is still busy himself: working full time at the hospital, then coming home to take care of me and the children. He's healthy as a horse; nothing much knocks him down. He's a tough Marine; Marines are made to withstand anything! (I wish I had his good health genes; my own health bites the big one! At times I get jealous because he never gets sick; yet he never complains when taking care of me.)
He's a good husband; I think I'll keep him...*smiles*
Haven't been back to work since the babies came; too busy for one thing. Maybe I will return to work at the newspaper; maybe not. It all depends on one thing: my health. With my health being so precarious now, it is looking less and less likely, much to my dismay. I may have to try to get my SSI/disability pension increased; I have no other choice..What I'm living on now isn't enough to feed a family of rats! You try feeding a family of twelve on less than $1,000 a month!
Not easy, my friend, not easy at all!!
And THAT is after paying for all my medications and the bills! I'm lucky if I have fifty dollars a month to my name! (Thank GOD for Roberto's paycheck; he helps me out!)
The weather is getting cooler; there's a definite hint of autumn in the air. However we are in sore need of rain; we are in the midst of a terrible drought situation here in the south; the ground is parched, and if it gets windy there's the omniprescent danger of fires starting due to the tinder-dry conditions.
Reminds me of Kenya in a way; in Kenya we'd go months without rain, and people/animals would starve to death; it was a very bad time; we were always having to move, just so our cows could get food or water. It was really bad.
Well, I am going to lie down: seeing spots before my eyes; I always see those before I pass out; know my blood pressure is falling. Not a good thing. I will write in here later; take care! Say a prayer for me!
A wonderful entry my friend, M'buti is blessed indeed to have a caring, loving, and supportive husband...not many in today's society are as blessed. A great entry as always!
Blessings,
Joyce B.

M'buti is blessed to have a loving and caring husband.
Enjoyed reading.
What to do when life is so complex and fraught with ill-health that everything seems like a maze? Keep a journal! The act of writing things out, even to self, is both a comfort and a healing and organisational process that gets things sorted emotionally, mentally and, often physically, too, when subsequent action is taken to act on problems solved through identification. Another compassionate and insightful look in the complex daily experience of someone who has "too much life and not enough body" to be able to keep on top. Each write of yours makes me stop and count my blessings, Karen... and to be mindful and prayerful of those who so uncomplainingly cope with far greater things. Bless you... and try to keep your feet on the ground before the Great Excitement next week! :)) K xx
