Bill lets us know how his two hospitalized children, Johnny and Ronee', are faring.

Dear Journal~
Bill here. This waiting, this constant worrying, is wearing me down, fast. Ronee' is still in a lot of pain and discomfort; every time the therapists try to move her limbs, she cries out.
She is still having the chest pain, the difficulty in breathing; therefore, the oxygen and heart monitor will stay put for now. The medications they are giving her via IV don't seem to be touching the pain; I am going to have to discuss this matter with her doctor, to see if there's anything else that can be done.
Johnny, meanwhile, is sitting up in bed, watching "SpongeBob Squarepants" on television, just laughing his head off. The nurses keep peeking into his room, to make sure everything is okay.
He ate all of his breakfast this morning; tonight he gets his first taste of "regular" (solid) food. He has ordered pizza with extra cheese, French fries, a jello salad (lime flavored), and a huge glass of chocolate malted. He is feeling much better.
I have been here at the hospital since nine this morning, and I will be going home sometime this evening. I think I need to stay home more, pay more attention to the other children; I have been spending far too much time with Johnny and Ronee' and I think they are starting to complain. They have a right to; after all, I have other children, too--a whole lot of children!--, not just Johnny and Ronee'!
I need to stop worrying so much. (Huh! Easier said than done!)
When Johnny had his seizure one week ago today, I surely thought he was dying: he looked bad, and things were growing critical. When he has one of his seizures, there's no telling what may happen with him!
I need to spend more quality time with the children, make them realize that they are special too. It's not fair that I keep spending extra time with just Johnny or Ronee'. If this doesn't stop soon, there's bound to be resentment, jealousy, or anger towards Johnny and his sister from the other children, and if there's one thing I don't need right now, it's added stress to an already tense situation!
Louisiana, at least, gets a break from the hospital, yet she worries right along with me. I see her pecking away in her journal, and I see the fear, the concern in her dark eyes when I tell them of the latest updates on Johnny and Ronee'! She's as bad as me when it comes to the kids: too much time with just two of them, not enough time with the others.
Louisiana: you have to understand something--she's always been something of a worrier; it's in her makeup. Whenever something threatens her children, she's worse than a mother hen! At times I wish she'd back off, let the kids be themselves more!
Then I find out about our granddaughter Jamie. She has muscular dystrophy, and so I have that to think about. In addition, there's the Audrey/Susan Callaway situation; I don't know if I can take hearing more bad news about them; they've already suffered far too much now as it is!
I am going to get something to eat before I head on back to the house; take care and God bless!
~Bill. :(
Maybe someone else can spend time with Johnny and Ronee' while they are in the hospital; I need a break!!

Glad Johnny is eating well. We will continue to hold both Johnny and Ronnee is our prayers.
Best regards
Chris
Hospitals certainly can wear a body down, reminds me of when my sister and I had our tonsils taken out when we were eight and ten, my mom said it was one of the hardest hospital stays that she had experienced at that time...of course this was when a tonsillectomy required a three day stay in the hospital...out patient was a thing of the future at that time, in Kentucky anyway! But hope that Johnny and Ronee are feeling better soon, a great write as always a compelling journal entry!
Blessings,
Joyce B.
In reading your story, one can just feel the pain, concern, love, fear, and a million other emotions as the father worries about his children. Well done, Karen.
Everyone asks, "How is the patient?" while forgetting there are concerned relatives or friends waiting anxiously by...you and I know the feeling well. Excellent.
