Glory be and Hallelujah!!
I am so happy I could just jump--that is, if I could jump; my muscular dystrophy and weak muscles won't allow it. So I'll just jump in my imagination. :)
This is Johnny. I am sorry if I haven't written until now, but I have been in the hospital; today is the first time I've been able to write. I hope you understand.
I was in the hospital because I had an episode of status epliepticus, or a prolonged, severe seizure, and the doctors wanted to make sure that I didn't suffer any brain damage. Well, it appears I didn't, but I do have some memory loss; I have to keep asking people what happened five minutes ago, yet I can remember things from two years ago. It's really frustrating.
I hope that's only temporary. Until then, I have to put up with it. It's a pain!
I got the EKG leads taken off, and I am now IV-less. No IVs in me, though I still have the oxygen (then that is something I have to use, unfortunately, lungs just aren't that strong anymore). I also have my pee-tube. Oh, well. At least I am getting better; that's the good part.
I am so glad to be getting out: I didn't sleep all that much, or if I did sleep, I kept getting awakened during the night: if it wasn't a nurse wanting to take my vital signs, it was the vampires wanting another durn blood sample, people dropping things outside the door, squeaky carts rolling by, bedpans or other items being dropped, kids crying or yelling, the overhead speaker calling for names of doctors or announcing another Code Blue: you know--the usual hopsital happenings.
Maybe once I am home I can sleep for a million hours; I am exhausted beyond exhaustion!! Cripes!!
I heard from Rebekkah Cohen: she's doing great! She's getting her therapy, and she now knows she made a mistake. I am not mad at her, but I am a little disappointed in her because she tried to take the easy way out. What she did was totally stupid!
Ronee' is in here: she's across the hall from me. She had another arthritis flare; she's due to get out on Monday. She came into the hospital earlier this week, according to daddy.
Daddy has been to see me every day (Ronee', too), and he's brought me some of my books and games from home. That way if there's nothing on the boob-tube, I can entertain myself by doing something constructive--like make paper airplanes out of my drinking straw wrappers! LOL
I love throwing 'em at the nurse's butts. They get annoyed, but I do it anyway. :)
Some of those nurses have realllly big butts! Airplanes could land on some of those biiiiiiiiiiiiiig butts! LOL
I am not looking forward to going back to school; I'll have to play catchup. GRR! I hate that!!
The weather here has been sunny, but I've been stuck in here, haven't been able to enjoy it. No wonder I am so pale; I have no color!! I look like death warmed over!! GAD!!
I made a new friend: a little girl named Amberly. She has an inoperable brain tumor; they don't think she'll live more than six months. It's really sad, but she seems nice. She has to use a wheelchair because she's so weak, and steroids have made her a little butterball. The nurses have been trying to brighten her room, and the other kids here love her. I like her too, but she's a bit young for me; she's only six to my fourteen-and-a-half. She's more like a little sister than a friend.
She's had this thing for about a year, and she's only getting sicker and sicker. She has had surgery, but there's not much they can do. She gets regular radiation treatments and stuff, but nothing much can be done. It makes me cry because she's not that old, yet she's suffered more pain than most people do in their whole life--and she's even worse off than ME, if you can believe that!
Well, Amberly is calling me, so I will go for now. Maybe she wants me to sit with her while she gets her blood tested; she hates needles. I don't blame her; I'm not fond of 'em myself.
I've been stuck so much it's a wonder I have any veins--let alone, blood--left!!
Take care and I will write once I am back home! Oh, boy, I canNOT wait!!!! :)
~Love, your pal, Johnny. :)
