Rebekkah Rachel has received some devastating news about her boyfriend back in the states; she is understandably worried and upset.

Dear Journal~
I am in a state of mind-numbing shock. First my girlfriend Susie has awakened from her slumber (coma), and now I find out that my boyfriend back home in the states, Johnny Sandusky, might be dying of his muscular dystrophy.
Johnny e-mailed me to deliver the terrible news. He said that he is on the oxygen all the time now; his lungs have really gotten weak, and he said by the end of the year he may have to end up having a tracheostomy and breathing with a ventilator. He is really upset about it, as you can imagine.
HE is upset? Well, what about me???
Johnny has tried to be brave about this situation, but when I talked to him last, he was in a constant state of tears. I felt so bad for him I hung up on him when we were talking, and now I am sure he thinks I am mad at him. Well, the truth is, I'm not. I am just in a state of disbelief over what's happened.
I also found out that something's going on with Aerial Mason and that has me worried, too. Her dad has left her mother, and I feel there is something more to it. I can't quite put my finger on it, but I feel that her life may be in danger.
My mom is getting worse, in relation to her Frederich's ataxia. She tried to talk to me this morning, and it took at least five minutes for her to say "I love you, Rebekkah". She sounds like a drunk, and it's scary to see her losing control of her body. I was embarrassed when the nurse came in while my mom was talking; I know she probably thought she was loaded, where I knew otherwise. The nurse gave my mom a very strange look, and my face flamed bright red from embarrassment.
Daniel's MD is so-so: he's not getting worse (at the moment, anyway), but he's not getting any better either. It's like his disease has reached a standstill.
I wish I could say the same about Johnny. For years it seemed that he was going to beat the MD; now I'm not so sure. I don't want to have to see him with a ventilator tube snaking from a hole in his throat, and I don't want to not hear him be able to speak! That would be too horrid to think about! He has lost all his ability to walk, and now he has to be cared for like a baby. He can't turn over by himself, and it doesn't take much for him to have terrible, gasping coughing spells that I am sure worry his family halfway to death!
Yet even with all that he's endured in life, Johnny Sandusky is one of the most courageous people I know. He has such an upbeat outlook on life (most of the time), and nothing gets to him. He's done a lot in his short (nearly) fifteen years on earth, and he's met people I've only DREAMT of meeting! He's also gotten to pet a real life cheetah, and he's gone on a tornado chase; he's done a lot of neat things, and I kinda' envy him for it!
I wish I could say the same for my brother. He's only barely out of toddler hood; yet I see how sick he is, and it really bothers me. I know he's going to end up like Johnny one of these days, and it frightens me.
I e-mailed Ronee' today; she is okay, but she's worried about Johnny (I think we all are), and she's worried about her upcoming joint replacement surgery, which is to be done on her hands; she is going to have to have a lot of help then, and if there's one thing she does NOT like, it's people having to do things for her. Ronee' has always been a very independent person, and she doesn't like people doing things for her unless she asks first; she'd much rather do things for herself. It's just how she is.
Ronee' is back to using her forearm crutches: her hands are messed up due to the pressure from using her canes, and her doctor told her to use the crutches instead. Well, you can imagine how that went with her. She's been having stabbing pains and numbness in her hands, and this is why she has to use the crutches, so as to take some of the pressure off the nerves. It's not been very fun for her.
Ronee' will have the surgery in January of 2008, according to her mom.
Anyway, when Susie IM'ed me, I thought I was gonna' pee my pants from shock. I didn't expect her to wake up again, but she did, and it sounds like she escaped the worst of the brain damage! She can "talk", and she knows (somewhat) what's going on around her and who she is, so that's a good sign--a very good sign!!
Well, I am going to sign out of here; getting ready to see Susie again; hopefully she is continuing to do well. Maybe then I can find out what's going on with Aerial; looks like we have ourselves a mystery on our hands....
Karen, I think I want to snatch up your Rebekkah and take her dancing. We're gonna whirl around and around and around till we're so dizzy that all we can do is lie on the floor and watch it spin around us. Then I'll take her back home. She needs a little more "Tigger" in her "Eyore" life.--Charlie
