Kat Delchamps-Hammer wishes all of her friends a happy and safe Hallowe'en.

Dear Journal~
Happy Hallowe'en (or as I like to spell it, Howl-o-we'en)!!
Kat Hammer here. Have been busy; this is why I haven't written since last week. (Oh, okay, in less than a week; last wrote on Oct. 26, six days ago, so sue me! LOL).
Am bored; this is why I am writing. Can't work today; office flooded. Water pipes froze, then burst. A regular mess. Frank's there now, trying to deal with this situation; meanwhile I'm stuck here at the house, with only "Aurora", our kitty, to keep me company.
It may be the last day of October, according to the calendar, but it feels more like Christmas outside. It's cold: temps in the thirties, in the teens at night, sometimes it even gets colder than that. I am a Cajun girl; I am not used to this cold weather! BRR!! I am sitting here by the fireplace, wrapped in three blankets--on top of wearing two sweatshirts--longjohns underneath--, two pairs of pants, three pairs of socks, and my mukluks--fur-lined slippers--, and I am still cold!! BRRRRR!!
I don't know how the Native people up here (i.e., the Klinkkit [spelled wrong, I know] and the Inuit [Eskimo]) people can live in such harsh, unforgiving conditions! I feel colder than a polar bear!!
The weather here is partly sunny, but we had snow last night; now the ground is covered in a layer of white. Looks like a Christmastime post card; really pretty. The temp right now must be in the lower twenties, with a stiff, north breeze, making it feel even colder.
Good thing I have "Aurora" snuggled up beside me! She's tiny, but she is like an extra warm blanket. She's stretched out, sleeping peacefully; she looks so adorable!
I just wanted to stop by to wish all my friends out in Internet land a happy Howl-o-ween. Won't be much in the way of trick-and-treaters out tonight, but here in Alaska, you never know. I have already witnessed some strange things since being here. The cold doesn't bother most of the people here; they're used to it. They just pile more clothes on top of what they already are wearing and just go about their business, like nothing is the matter.
It drives me crazy!!
Take care, and see you down the road! I will write in here again soon; stay tuned~
Kat Hammer has given a terrific weather report--sounds like the beginning of Christmas. Hope those water pipes weren't too badly damaged. Happy Halloween back at ya!
Brr. 3 blankets--2 sweatshirts--longjohns--two pairs of pants--socks--and mukluks--in front of the fireplace--with a kitty on top--and Kat's still cold? Geez. Made me cold reading this! LOL An excellent journalling.
3 blankets, 2 sweaters longjohns oh boy dose that bring some unwanted memories of the coold days in my past, I moved to the deep south to get away from all that, yesterday saw my first frost, in the wee morings hours the lawn was crystalized white, in the late noon I felt what I thought were dose soft chilled winds of Autumn,
I am at Atlanta at this moment.
beginning to miss my hot humid air, my wetland swamps, the sounds of silence at night when the frogs and crikets quit for the night
and the owls prowls, One can hear themselves think, now thats inspiration.
Enjoyed your write Karen
Peace & Love Be with you
Here, in Sweden, the first minus celsius degrees are arrived with very cold wind and fog fog fog, but being from Sausalito when it is not fog and we can see we don't believe what we see, because it is not there! you ge? hahahahaha!!!!!!!
Take care, and watch for those polar bears coming south!

Christmas - only days away; plastic snowmen and glowing reindeer adorn the lawns of neighborhoods all across America. All is calm, all is bright, and yet there is something tragically wrong about this Christmas night.
