Weds., Oct. 31, '07, Hallowe'en Day~

Dear Journal~

Dr. Wayne Wright writing in here. Sorry I haven't written in a little over a month; things have been crazy here at best. I hope you understand why I haven't been around.

Tonight our family (wife, kiddoes, myself) are going to church--not to go to a church service, per se, but to go to the second Harvest Festival. Last year's fest was very successful; over 8,000 people came; they're anticipating an even bigger turn out tonight. It will be good to get away from the stress of life, even if only for a few hours.

We really don't celebrate Hallowe'en, like most people: instead, we celebrate the goodness, the blessings, the bounties that the Lord has placed upon us. We look more to the spiritual side of things instead of the "darker side", the commercialism of the holiday.

This is the "Harvest" we celebrate; thus why we are having the Harvest Festival tonight at church.

I am happy to report that my niece Susie is now communicating; it is good to haar her voice again. She really scared us when she tried to take her own life, also when she had her stroke; yet she is a fighter, and she always has been (ever since I have known her, that is). Audrey is doing better too, and for once the family is very happy.

I pray this continues.

My health has been holdin' its own: no better, but then again, no worse. It's like it has reached a plateau. Still having to do the dialysis thing three times a week, doctor still thinking of doing a kidney transplant; said my kidneys are shot. I am having to think long and hard on this; don't know if I am going to do it or when. It's very scary, yet I must have this if I want to continue to live; otherwise, I'd only get worse, possibly even die.

Tonight at the festival they're  having some gospel music: the McGruders from Missouri are the festival's special guests; they'll take to the stage at 8:30; they will be singing until 10. Until then, there'll be local singers/choirs praising our Lord and Saviour; hopefully some of the festival attendees will hear the message; hopefully some of them will accept Christ into their hearts.

We can only hope.

There will also be games, a car smash, contests, food galore, socializing, face painting, carnival rides for the kiddies, hayrides, and of course the musical entertainment I just mentioned.

I am really looking forward to seeing the McGruders: they are a husband-and-wife team, and they are really anointed in their music. Our church's senior pastor is a huge fan of theirs, he's been trying to get them to come to our church for two years now; they have finally committed to it, and we are looking for a good turnout for their concert.

The weather is warmish, temps in the seventies, rather mild for this time of year. It's partly cloudy out; we did have rain earlier; it's now cleared out; hopefully everything will be dry by the time the festival starts tonight.

Well, I am going to go; have to go to my dialysis treatment; that takes several hours; then I will probably come home, take a nap for a good two hours; then I should be in fine shape for the Harvest Festival (and the McGruders) tonight. I will write in here again soon; take care and God bless!
