Kat is in the throes of getting ready for the holidays, along with her husband, Frank.

Dear Journal~
Kat Delchamps (Hammer) here.
Sorry for not writing; have been going crazy trying to get the house ready for the upcoming holiday season. With Thanksgiving past us, it's now time to concentrate on Christmas.
My first Christmas in Alaska. *sigghh* Seems hard to believe that I've been here for over half a year now; came to Alaska in May, have been freezin' ever since! LOL At least I have Frank and "Aurora" (cat) to keep me warm on these long, cold, frigid Alaska winter nights! (Oh, that and plenty of blankets thrown on the bed! LOL)
It is definitely looking more and more like Christmas: the carols are being played on the radio (just today I heard "Silent Night", "O Holy Night" and "Joy To The World" in a row, then heard the old standards "Jingle Bells", "Deck The Halls", and "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town" in less than a half hour), we have seen some wonderful Christmas lighting displays (our neighbor down the street has an incedible light display that blinks to timed music; it's really neat!), and the air definitely has a Christmassy odor to it: pine and holly permeate the senses.
We have already started with the shopping. I keep asking him (hubby dear) what he got; he won't tell me. He just tells me to hush and then goes about his business. There are mysterious packages appearing; one of these days, my busy little fingers are going to go searching, and I am going to find out WHAT he got me! I just know he got me something; otherwise, why would he be acting so secretive, hmmm???
I am sensing that Frank is like a little boy around Christmas. I mean, after all, he does look like Santa Claus; all he needs is a red suit and hat, and there you go! Instant Santa Claus! He has that deep, rich, booming laugh, and he has the kind heart that Santa is known for; he is willing to bend over backwards to help those in need.
He's the type of guy who will get out in subzero weather to shovel the driveway of a frail elderly neighbor so she can walk to the mailbox to retrieve her mail (or he'll even get her mail for her and hand deliver it to her at the door; he doesn't want her going out in the brutal cold), change a flat tire, give some hot chicken soup to a frozen kid who's been out a little too long, or will feed a stray animal (or bring them inside--much to the dismay of "Aurora").
I defnitely picked a winner in Frank Hammer! :) I knew a good thing once I first laid eyes on him!
In any event, we are busy getting ready for Christmas. Just yesterday we looked at Christmas trees; Frank likes real trees. I prefer those in a box already decorated; Frank says no. He likes the smell of a real tree; I think they're too much work, and too messy. If there's one thing I don't want to be doing all winter, it's cleaning up Christmas tree needles! It's too much of a hassle!
We're also starting to bake cookies and other treats for the parties that will surely lay ahead. Frank loves to give parties; he's a party kind of guy; he loves spreading Christmas cheer to friends and family.
We have started shopping, as I said, but what I meant to say is this: Frank started shopping. I haven't. Yet. I have no clue what to get him other than warm sweaters or a new Gore-Tex jacket. His current jacket is becoming rather threadbare; it's starting to look a little worn around the edges.
And those Gore-Tex jackets ain't cheap! (Not on MY budget, anyway!)
Time to break out the MasterCard!! :) (Buy now, pay later!)
Also time to banish Kitty to the other room. I swear she will do anything in her feline power to either a.) shred the packages to shreds, or b.) hide in the Christmas tree, her little face peeking out from between the Christmas lights. I can see it all now! :) Also there's too much temptations for her, and a lot of that stuff isn't good for her (tinsel, etc.). Not good if Kitty gets sick and we end up paying a huge vet bill because tinsel got wrapped around Kitty's intestines! We don't have that kind of money!
Or at least I don't!
Well, I am going back to bed; I'm gettin' stupid. I will write more later; take care and God bless! Happy Holidays!
~Kat. :)

The festive season is definitely alive in Kat's neck of the woods! A very bright write!! Cheers! Keep up the great work!
Karen thank you for a beautiful write as I admitt that I love Christmas most of all, I believe in giving as I try real hard to help out those who are less fortunate remembering what and why we have this blessed holiday. My kitty also loves it and believes we decorate the tree just for her as she sleeps under it for twelve days of Christmas.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in these last few stories of yours! I love the way you write, the way you get into the holiday spirit; you carry us into your character's lives, and methinks Kat is in looove. :) And don't banish Aurora to the other room, just keep an eyeball on her. :) Kittles love Christmas, too. In any event, well written.
Ahhh I do so love Christmas and though people bitch about the meaning of it or the commercialism of it or whatever I still believe it is what you make of it.
