The boy tried to look away, couldn't. He was blinded by the Light enamating from the Man who stood before him in all His Heavenly Glory. He stared at the nail-scarred sandaled feet, the brilliant white robe that was the brightest white he'd ever seen, the seriousness of the expression on the Man's face, the wavy brown hair.
He'd heard of Jesus Christ his entire life; yet he never really accepted Him. The boy just shrugged Him off as though He were a pesky fly; he was too busy to worry about Someone like Jesus Christ.
He'd figured that the Rapture was just a myth; now it was happening right before him.
It was terrifying. The boy's heart pounded a frightened staccato rhythm deep inside his heaving chest, he broke out in a sweat, and now he was at the mercy of Jesus, who now stood before him.
"Benton Grayson", Jesus intoned seriously, "You have rejected Me. You say you have no need for Me in your life. No matter how many times your parents have tried to tell you My Message of Salvation, you have shirked your responsibilities and am now doomed to hell. You never even once asked Me to come into your life."
The boy started crying as he fell flat on his face. "I meant to ask You to come into my life, but the truth of the matter is this: I was too scared to. I didn't want to think my friends as seeing me as a wimp for asking You to come into my life", he sobbed through heavy tears.
"There is nothing 'wimpy' about asking Me to come into your life. In fact, it's the most important Decision a person can make in their lifetime; I gave you a choice to choose Me or reject Me. It is up to them how a person lives their lives. In fact, admitting that you're a sinner is probably the hardest thing a person can ever do; this is why it is important; you never know when your life will end--or when I would come back again."
"Now because I didn't ask You to come into my heart, I'm doomed? How about if I ask You to come into my life right now, at this very moment?" the boy stammered, stunned at Jesus' Answer.
"You never knew me. You will not be coming to Heaven; your name is not in the Book of Life". Jesus' Voice turned chillingly brutal, honest.
With that, quick as a flash of lightning, Jesus was suddenly gone, leaving the boy lying on the ground in a damp, quivering, shaking state. All he could do now was wait for the devil to come and claim him as yet another hapless victim doomed to the pits of Hell.
