It's dark, its after midnight, the car is on the top floor of a multi car park...I'm a woman...aged 45....I'm afraid......

I had  great applause after my poems and short stories were told on the stage. They gave me a cheque which I put in my handbag and after a few kisses and hugs, I left making my way to the car.

I had parked in the muti car park and had to drive to the very top when I arrived at 5pm. Most office workers had yet to leave and I thought at the time that it was unfortunate that it was not a first floor space I had got. But now the fear was coming to me. I could hear my heels notifying any potential attacker that I was there. My heart beat quicker. Sweat on my brow could be felt. I walked quickly and the lift doors were now in sight to get me to the fifth floor. Thankfully they were open. I would be safe for a few minutes as the lift took me up.

I pressed the button to close the door and the doors began to close but just before they did, two hairy hands entered and clasped on the closing doors, a growl came from his voice. My heart jumped. I froze. The intruder forced the doors apart and entered. He looked and me and I at him.

The thought then came to me, whatever did I see in marrying him?

Hah! I'm glad that it was him though, and not someone else. My cousin found herself in just some such situation. "Aren't you scared to be alone with a man like me?" he leered at her. So she quipped back, "No. I used to be one." Of course it was a lie. But he didn't touch her. --Charlie
