A very special teenaged boy touches his family's heart--and the lives of others.
Yes, I am back! For a while at least. :)
My son, Jamieson Jonah, is a breathing, living miracle of God.
Every day we have with him is, always has been, a blessing.
Jay-Jay (as we call him) was born with significant physical and mental disabilties that affect just about every facet of his life.
At the age of sixteen, Jay-Jay should be thinking about dating, learning to drive a car, thinking about where he'd like to attend college, or what he'd like to do in life; however in his case, this is only a dream.
You see, Jay-Jay's problems have left him with the mind of an infant: unable to walk, talk, even see. He is dependent on the care of others. He requires twenty-four-hour care. He is tube-fed, and is often in and out of the hospital.
He gets sick so easily. His health can change at the drop of a hat; one never knows when we need to call for an ambulance.
Jay-Jay is our second oldest child. We have an older daughter, Meagyn, 18, and another son, 13-year-old Martin. Jay-Jay is very much loved by his family.
He is a delightful child/man who enjoys the simple things: a hug, a kiss from family/friends, the feel of a soft, warm puppy or kitten in his lap, music (except rap), or being held, rocked, or read to.
Nothing brings him more joy than for someone to aknowledge his presence or pay attention to him. It brings us joy in the long run because they recognize him as human instead of a lump of flesh.
What a profound write my friend...thought provoking indeed. Who knows what doors could possibly be unlocked with the hidden key that Jay Jay may hold within...always amazes me the depth one can see if they only look within the eyes of those such as Jay Jay...wonderful write, full of heart and soul, touching indeed! welcome home to the den, you've been missed...it does feel good to be back....
Blessings from Ky.

Wonderful look into the life of a special child, as Santa this year at the local mall I got to meet and chat with so many special needs children and it was truly a moving experience. Welcome back.
Oh the "Simple-things" _ Child/Man in us all _ More connected on the deepest levels _ Brought forth in this touching as can be writing _ Evolvoelolveleov_Ted
A powerfully penned story of unconditional love. The ending paragraph particularly moving. " ...because in the long run, they recognize him as human instead of a lump of flesh." Well done!
