Dear Diary~

Sarah Elizabeth Wright is my name, and you don't know me from Adam; but I bet you know about my husband, Wayne.

Wayne is a doctor here--or was, until he took sick. His health has nosedived; he's suffered so much. In fact, he is in the hospital now (I'm currently in the waiting area, just woke up a little while ago, enjoying the quiet of the early morning), recovering from a kidney transplant. He had that done Christmas day, and they have him knocked out; he's been in a lot of pain, discomfort.

He's passed the critical 48 hour mark; he may very well recover. We shall see; I'm praying for a miracle for my husband.

Wayne's kidneys shut down entirely about the beginning of October; he's been on a transplant waiting list since then, and about two weeks ago, they notified us that they had a kidney for Wayne; we then went to the hospital, where he had the operation on Christmas Day, and now he's recovering. He came through the surgery beautifully, but he's still so very ill; anything can happen.

The kids are staying with my sister Serenity and her husband Mike. They are understandably worried for their daddy, especially Mwugu; he's terrified that he's going to die; and it isn't easy trying to convince him otherwise.

Wayne's health has not only suffered: his mental state has, too. His sister, Audrey, is still being difficult, and her daughter, Susie, managed to cut herself again. I am so disappointed in her. Why can't she talk to someone about her deep-seated pain instead of intentionally trying to harm herself time and time again?? Does Susie really think she is that bad of a person? Does she really want to die??

I'll never understand it! NEVER!

Louie Sandusky, my other good friend, had her twins on Thanksgiving Day; they are absolutely beautiful! They are so tiny, and yet they are thriving with good health, which is nothing short of a miracle! Their names are Isaiah and Ian, and they are precious beyond compare!

She has so much worry on her mind: her son, Johnny, has lost so much weight (and he's always been thin, anyway); he looks like a concentration camp survivor. It's alarming to see. He's having so much difficulty breathing, and he's tethered to an oxygen tank twenty four hours a day.

He's not doing very well, and I fear for him.

I fear for the entire family; what will happen if Johnny suddenly dies?? I bet they would fall apart; they are just so close!

I will have to pray extra hard for them, have Christ Community, our church, lift them up in prayer! That family needs a miracle for Johnny!

Ronee', one of their daughters, is facing surgery on her hands in a week and a half; she has severe JRA, and the arthritis has destroyed the joints in her hands, causing great pain and difficulty in movement. Yet I'm not so scared about Ronee' as I am about Johnny; after all, it's not Ronee' who's dying--it's Johnny who is.

However, this isn't about the Sanduskys; it should be all about Wayne, my husband, but as usual, I let my mind drift off again.

I do that sometimes.

In any event, Wayne is sorry he ever met his sister because ever since she blew into his life, it's been one problem after another, and it's really affected him in all facets of his life. It's no wonder his health has suffered so greatly.

He's always had health problems (born with spina bifida, has had kidney problems a good chunk of his life, now has TIA's--mini strokes--, and heart palpitations from time to time, may be headed for diabetes), and the stress that "Hurricane Audrey" has caused has only made his health situation all the more dire.

Well, Drs. Ghurundi and Jagadish, his attending physicians, want to discuss his medical state--i.e., how he's doing--with me, so I'll go now. I will write in here again in a few days; don't know when he's getting out of the hospital yet. Hopefully that will be soon; it all depends on how he does as he continues to recover from his kidney transplant.
