My name's Asher. Asher Daniel. I am six years old.
I live in Brentwood, Tennessee, with my family. I have a mommy, a daddy, and two big sisters who all take good care of me. My sisters are named Grace and Emily; they are nine and thirteen.
I also have a dog, a German Shepherd named "Prince". He sleeps with me nearly every night; sometimes I get scared he'll squash me or cut off my breathing. He's heavy!!
When you see me, you'll see that I'm different. I am six, but I look more like a two-year-old. When I was born, I was born with shortened arms and legs; I will never be tall, even when I am an adult. I have a condition called dwarfism. I am a dwarf. That's okay because I still can do many things.
When I am not in school (I'm in first grade), I love to play with my toys, my family, my dog, see my friends, go out for pizza or video games, color, draw, write stories, and (try to) skateboard. I'm not very good at that yet; I keep falling, busting my elbows, my knees, even my chin!
I've had to go to the ER to get stitches; that's no fun! I have lots of scars from when I've wiped out while skateboarding! :)
My daddy calls me "Tough Man" because of my scars. Sure, I cry when I get stitches; but then the ER doctor gives me a lollipop for being "brave", and then everything's all cool. I forget about it not long after it's happened.
My best friend is Henry. He's in the same class as me; he's regular sized. He doesn't pick on me like a lot of the other kids. I think that's mean! The other kids, they call me "Shorty", "Shrimpy", "Short-Stuff", "Tiny", and worse; at times I get so mad I hit them right in their kneecaps--that is, until Miss Orlando comes and tells me that's not allowed.
She doesn't like it when I hit; yet I have to learn to fight for myself, don't I?? I don't like it when kids pick on me! I have to protect myself somehow!
Well, I have to go take my bath, brush my teeth, get ready for bed. School tomorrow. I want to get lots of sleep, so I'd better go now. I'll write in here another time. I hope you enjoyed reading about me and my life!
