They were wed and he died six weeks later while undergoing a simple operation. May is devastated, broke and lost. She joins the Marines out of desperation. She is trained as a space pilot and leaves earth on the first faster than light ship to explore other worlds for the starving billions on earth. Her adventures are hair raising and comical.
