Dear Journal~
Kat here. Kat Hammer.
I have some mighty big news to share; I still can't believe it. I'm in a state of shock as a result.
I'm pregnant. Pregnant, as in "Kat-you're-gonna-have-a-baby-in-nine-months".
Took a pregnancy test a few days ago; have been missing my period; that got me to wondering, so I took the test. Positive. Great! There is going to be a little Hammer in the very near future!
I don't know if I'm ready for motherhood....
I'm in my forties; I'm too old to be a mamma!! And my husband--he's in his later fifties!! He's no spring chicken either!!
The only child we have is "Aurora", our four-legged baby! LOL I don't know how she is going to put up with a little human invading her space!
Frank, as you can imagine, is as proud as punch. He keeps walking around, his chest puffed out like a emperor penguin, saying to all who see us, "Look at what I did! I knocked her up!" (He'll say that too, much to my chagrin/embarrassment!!)
I am glad Frank's happy, but I don't know if I am just yet! I will have to think of baby clothes, diapers, baby furniture; a new vehicle--with prices being so high, the baby to be is going to run us into the poor house!
Kids are expensive; what makes you think we can afford to have one, let alone, provide for all of its needs/demands??
My husband isn't worried; however, I sure am!!
The thought alone absolutely terrifies me!!
To other news, the weather here is still cold; am spending my days wrapped up to my chin in blankets, not daring to venture outside. Frank, on the other hand, goes out every chance he gets: he's an outside type of guy; always has to get his jogging/exercise regimen in; the cold doesn't faze him one bit. He goes out every morning, runs five miles, in snow, sleet, ice, sun. Weather doesn't bother him one bit.
The thought of venturing out in subzero temperatures is more than enough to turn me into a Cajun popsicle! LOL
BRRRR!!!!
Well, "Aurora" is meowing to be fed, so I'd best go before she starts chomping on my leg. I will write again another day; take care and be well!
~Love, your friend in Alaska, Kat Hammer. :)
*I'm PREGNANT!! Oh, my LORRRRRRRRD!!*
