Have you EVER had one of "those days"?

Those types where EVERYTHING GOES WRONG, no matter WHAT??

I had one of those days today.

This is Dwerlina. I'm 18, almost. I'm home from college (2 weeks--spring break). I'm visiting my family in Nashville, Tennessee. (I live and go to school in Lafayette, Louisiana.)

The day started out like it always does. With Kwame' 's crying. (He's almost 2.) Secondly, Sun Hee tripped and fell and bumped her head. She cried, too. (She can't see too good.) Sun Hee is 4.

After I calmed Sun Hee down with hugs and kisses, I went to check in on Kwame'--only, to be attacked by the strong, pungent smell of poop. He had downloaded into his diaper. And, worse, it was ALL OVER HIS BED.

Groaning, I yelled: "MAMA-A-A-N!!!!" Mommy came running, gusted a heavy sigh, and tended to Kwame' 's "poop-filled" situation. It was GROSS, to put it mildly. And STINKY!!!!

After taking care of Sun Hee and little Kwame', I then went into the kitchen--only to see 4-year-old Jo-El and 3-year-old Tri Tich Anh laughing hysterically while 4-year-old Mario stood in the middle of the kitchen floor, a bag of flour over his head. He was covered from head to toe in white. He looked like a tiny little snowman.

"Oh, for PETE'S SAKE!!" I screamed. "WHAT HAPPENED??"

Tri managed to gasp out between fits of uncontrollable laughter,"I don't really know! Jo-El was hungry, I guess, and he went to get himself a cookie. When he did he knocked over the flour, and it WENT ON MARIO'S HEAD!!!! HE LOOKS LIKE FROSTY THE SNOWMAN!!" At that, both little boys howled with uncontrollable laughter. Poor Mario, meanwhile, just stood there, dumbfounded.

I signed to Mario (for he is profoundly deaf) to stay where he was at while I'd get mommy (and quickly reassured him that he was NOT in trouble). I then proceeded to chew both Jo-El and Tri out because they didn't ask for help, and also because I didn't remember Jo-El asking mommy if he could have a cookie.

Needless to say, my day was starting out on the wrong foot.

And it was only 10 in the morning.

Around 2:00 in the afternoon, after a brief respite from toddler mayhem, it happened again. Enriquesa (3) had managed to lose
her arms again. She somehow had worked the artificial arms off and left them lying in the middle of the recreation room. Ronee', who is 9, managed to fall over them and bumped her nose. Of course, she cried. (Enriquesa had been born without arms or hands or legs. She walks with artificial legs--and a walker for added stability.) Ronee' wasn't hurt, but I'm sure the fall did NOT sit well with her achy joints! (She has juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, and she walks on crutches.) She made a VERY BIG NOISE when she fell, as did her crutches.

BAAAAMMM!!!! was how she went.

After I "put Enriquesa back together again" and tried to comfort a wailing Ronee', I then had to deal with 3-year-old Monica, who threw a hissy-fit after mommy told her to pick up her toys. She then called mommy a bad name (it rhymes with "itch"), and then proceeded to throw herself onto the floor as she kicked and screamed.

Needless to say, let's just say I warmed her little rearend. I whomped her good.

So did mommy. Monica ended up getting spanked twice. In less than a minute.

And so on throughout the rest of the day. I ended up cleaning vomit from the livingroom floor (Sun Hee had eaten a cigarette; she thought it was candy), separating fights between Mario and Jo-El (I got klunked on the head with a Lego; I STILL have a red welt above my left eye from where the Lego pegged me!), and dealing with Kwame', who threw a duck fit when he was put to bed. He cried hard and long for an hour.

I thought he would get sick and throw up, which is sometimes what happens if he cries too hard.

Thank God, he didn't.

It was a H-E double hockey stick type of day, let me tell you!!!!

At times I wish I were back in Lafayette, Louisiana, at school...

Or at work. (On weekends, I work as a waitress at Mulate's in Breaux Bridge, not far from Lafayette.)
