Goldsboro: OK you wild and crazy LA Gen Yers that was 'Bent' by Matchbox 20. As you know every Saturday we have our weekly 'Up and Comer' interview. Some not so well known 'up and comer' who may not be a superstar now but has a lot of potential telling us a little about his or her life. We have young people from all walks of life. Our staff here looks through thousands of essays and the lucky winners not only get to talk about themselves on our show and generate publicity for themselves, they get a five hundred dollar prize. So this week's winner is a young up and coming actress who currently works as a waitress at a local Sherman Oaks coffee shop. Her name is Cheryl Larouche. Cheryl can you tell the audience about yourself?
Fifi: Omigosh I truly can't believe that I won $500 on top of getting interviewed by you Danny. I'm so excited. I guess the Lord up there is really thinking about me. I mean I never won anything in my life except some cheap little 'snoopy dog' doll at the Iowa State Fair when I was a kid. You know it was one of those toss the ring contests. I happen to be pretty good at horseshoes, you know, being from the Midwest and everything.
Goldsboro: (Laughing) I guess those midwestern genes make you good at horseshoes huh? I don't know too many Los Angelenos who are into playing horseshoes. So can you tell me a little bit more about yourself? Why you want to be an actress, knowing how tough for an young entertainer to make it out here in Hollywood? Your background? Your hobbies?
Fifi: Danny I wanted to be an actress since I was 8 years old. I just love watching old movies and TV shows as opposed to the stuff you see today. The old actors were a lot more entertaining. Not all this sex and violence and blood and guts all over the place and people saying dirty words every five seconds or so. And yes it is very tough to make it as actress here in Hollywood. You don't have to tell me about that. I can't tell me how many auditions I went to and I'm still waiting for that 'callback.' But I have no doubt that I'll be a big star in just a short amount of time. I'm just as talented as any young actress out there today. Also I believe in karma and if you do good things the Lord will reward you. I mean I just won five hundred bucks right? Also Danny can you please call me Fifi? I mean father gave me that name when I was a kid because my hairstyle kind of reminded him of a .......french poodle.
Goldsboro: Of course. You come to me more as a 'Fifi' than as a 'Cheryl' anyways. So what kind of hobbies do you have?
Fifi: Oh I like to do all kinds of crazy things. Like I said before I like watching old movies and I'll go to these film festivals where they show nothing but old movies. I'll go watch new movies too but sometimes it's like torture sitting through the whole movie because they're just not very good. I also like to work out. I'm a member of a health club and I also do a lot of walking because being an actress I just can't afford to be fat. My waitress job in itself kind of keeps me in shape. I also enjoy listening to your radio station because you play all kinds of music, not just today's music. You know oldies kinds of music like from KC and the Sunshine Band and Bozz Skaggs. I really do like those old singers. Finally I'm into new wave things. Things like astral projection. You know like all the 'chakras' and energy sources in our bodies and how we're connected to a silver chord and how it gets cut when we it all ends and we enter the 'afterlife.' Well now I'm learning about this astral projection and how you have all kinds of out of body expereiences and meet all your long lost relatives and still keep your 'silver chord.' I also wouldn't mind having a little talk with my Maker. I really get tired about all these people telling us to just sit around on this planet in our bodies and do all our chores and deeds and wait till 'the time comes.' I'm interested in seeing what's going on NOW. Why wait around until the 'time comes?" As long as I keep my 'silver chord' and come back to my body. Now I've been trying to do this astral projection stuff a couple of times the way they told me. You know lie down and relax and take a lot of deep breaths but all I do is go to sleep and have a silly dream. No flying anywhere out of my body. I went to Paris when I was in college and would like to go back and this astral projection being free is a lot cheaper than airfare and I just hate those long lines at the airport.....you know....because of 'Homeland Security.' Don't have to worry about that with Astral travel. Just fly around Champs Elysees, Arc De Triomphe and Eiffel Tower and come right back.
Goldsboro(staring at Fifi with his mouth wide open): Siver chord, astral projection.....Boz Scaggs. Fifi I find you one of the most interesting interviews I've ever had since I've worked at this station. You definitely deserve being picked a winner because they're just aren't many people as......fascinating...... as you. Do you have a boyfriend?
Fifi: Well Danny I feel that question is personal but let's say I have a very good close friend named Biff and we like to do a lot of stuff together.
Goldsboro: Fifi I have no doubt....I have no doubt.....that you will be a very very succesful actress in a short amount of time. It has been a pleasure meeting you and may all the 'chakras' be aligned with you. I want to talk to you again in the near future and please tell me about your 'astral projection' experiences. Tell me how my father and my grandparents are doing.
Fifi: Of course I'll talk to them. It was a pleasure talking to you Danny.
