Bill writes in his journal, enjoying some early-moarning quiet time before the troops arise to start the day. Sundays are always extra busy at the Sandusky house.

Sunday, March 30, 2008, 5:02 a.m., D.S.T., Nashville, TN~

Dear Journal~

Bill Sandusky here.  Woke up just a while ago; joints screaming obscenities at me.  *OW*  Can't seem to fall back to sleep, so I guess I'll stay up; besides we'll be leaving the house by seven thirty so we can go out to eat breakfast--or we plan to, anyway!

Seems that sometimes that doesn't work out.  Then we're bustin' our buns to try to get everyone ready/loaded in the vans so we can be at church by eight thirty, eight forty five.

You try wrestling with fifty plus kids and see where it gets YOU.  Just a bunch of sore, achy, pinging muscles and high blood pressure. LOL

(I have high blood pressure.  It's a miracle it's not through the roof sometimes with all the aggravation I have to put up with raising this village! LOL)

My wife, the nurse, is always harpin' at me to watch the bp, she's worried I'm going to stroke out, but by the Good Lord's grace, I haven't--yet. LOL

For now, however, there's no nagging wife, or screaming, starving kids: they're all in bed.  I can hear my wife purring in bed, and some of the kids' snores wafting through the quiet, dark, early morning air.  As an example, Johnny is snoring like a buzzsaw, and Richard is, too.  I can hear them quite well.

Oops! The toilet just flushed.  Wonder who's up.  Let's have a looksie, shall we??

It was Ronee'.  She had to pee; now she's stumbling back to her bed.  She just gave me a dirty, sleepy look.  She looks so adorable in the morning....LOL

Things are going well, even though we aren't adopting any more children.  We have more than enough love, more than enough children now as it is.  Maybe it's time we move on, give other (potential) adoptive families/parents a chance; we can't hog all the glory!

Of course, I'm sad about it, but the kids are runnin' us broke.  We're always in the red, it seems; seems the bills never stop--and with the ever-increasing gas and food prices expected to go even higher, it's a wonder we're not in the poorhouse--or out on the streets, homeless.

It's only by the grace of God that we're able to pay our bills on time, keep the kids clothed, fed, safe.

Louisiana has been working many doubles lately; she has to because of the bills.  The extra money does come in handy, but it still leaves us broke after bills, after providing for the children.

However, it's a job I wouldn't trade for anything.  God has been faithful, providing the extra funds when it is needed, and we never have to worry because somehow, somewhere, the extra money comes, just when we need it the most.

The weather is clear, starry, with a fat, full moon in the sky.  Very peaceful; I love these early mornings before the rest of the family rises for the day--before all h-e you-know-what breaks loose! LOL  It is during these quiet times where I can hear for God's voice and see what He has in store for me, our family.  I also love the time I spend in prayer, reading God's word.

Well, I am going to get back to my praying, my Bible, so I will go for now.  I will write in here again another time.  Take care and may God bless you abundently!

~Bill Sandusky. :)

I'm just curious, how many vans do they have for all those beautiful children? Are some of the children old enough to drive? A curious mind would like to know. Bill is a wonderful provider for his family and you can definitely see how much he loves all his children despite the lack of funds. His faith will certainly see him through for sure! A powerful write!

Well, Karen, here I am, reading one of your stories. I'm afraid I will get addicted to them, and with a backlog of thousands, what will happen to me? I'll have to stop writing in order to read.
Seriously, I enjoyed Bill's Mutterings, and really look forward to reading a lot more. I do love stories, but have purposely stuck more with poems because they are shorter.
I just read your last 3 blogs, too. I'm glad you have such a good church to worship in. What a WONDERful thing to sign up to pray for the children! God bless you and your church!]

Lots of love, Connie

Sometimes all we need is time to relax and collect ourselves and realize God only gives us what we can handle although we may not feel that at times. Thank you for sharing another great write Karen.

Karen,

Bill needs to read the Bible if his joints are screaming obscenities at him...boy, can I identify, or what? Shoulders, neck, knees...sigh. Break out the Tylenol and a whole lot of prayer! An excellent early morning peek before the village awakes. :) Well done.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
