Everybody Knows That!

Some of the funniest situations happen at the worst times.

True Story-  I was investigating the accidental shooting, yes shooting, of a young lady by her grandfather. The young lady visited her grandparents and asked her grandfather, who was borderline alzheimers, if she could borrow some money. Grandpa gladly went to his room to get money from under the bed for his grandaughter. Grandpa asked for help getting the shoebox with the money from under the bed, so as the young lady entered the room, Grandpa was using a broom to sweep at the shoebox, but rather than get the box the broom hit the trigger on the shotgun that grandpa forgot was under the bed. The gun went off and the young lady was struck in the foot by a few pellets. Luckily the young lady wasn't seriously injured, because the gun was so old the pellets turned to dust upon striking the young lady in the foot. Upon my arrival the young lady's mother met me at the door. Mom was very upset, as any parent would be, and asked "Why didn't anybody call 911?" The grandmother responded, "I don't know the damn number for that 911!" This of course had me and my partner grinning but still keeping our composure. Grandpa alzheimers and all yells at the top of his lungs, "You dummy, the number for 911 is ZERO! Everybody knows that!"  Composure out the window! I never ran out of a house so fast to keep from letting them see me laugh.

Well, darn...we all get confused at times, especially if our grandaughter has just been shot...by "dust"?
