He was working in the back landing when she walked into the thick stench of the decrepit ruins of the cemeteries above ground mausoleum. The towns’ people had been complaining about the rotten smell for quite some time. They wanted the entire mausoleum, and the bodies resting there to be relocated. Some of the burials sanctioned there have been resting for 80 years or more. Those bodies apparently were not the issue; however the rotting pungent aroma of fresh deaths were. The smell of decomposing human remains is unlike anything you can imagine. It is worse than the smell of human flesh that has been burned in a fire.
His daughter was barely 5 years old as she seen him pull a fermented decomposing body from the concrete floor. It was the corpse of a man who had passed away 3 months ago. Her father had lost his grip on the casket from the top shelf. The casket fell to the flooring, and broke open. He was gasping for his breath even though he wore a handkerchief across his nose, and mouth. The putrid smell of death's decomposition was throughout the entire town. She could see her father was mortified by the dropping of the casket. The look in his eyes was…….
Was That Interesting? It’s Not Really A Story Though, It Is A True Encounter Of Memories When My Father & Uncles Needed To Relocated the Mausoleum back in 1965 or 1966 & Yes All Of The Resting Residents in it. The smell is worse than anything you have ever smelled decomposing on the road. I to this day somehow Love Mausoleums & Graveyards…not the well manicured ones if you know what I mean...I Love The Graveyards that you would see in a Scarey Movie :)

Mary
My dearest ancestral sister calling to me
from the grave of a lost soldier’s cemetery…
Here you have rested buried for centuries
upon the flat lands of this old prairie…
Your undisturbed resting grounds
are now bathed within a thicket of thorns,
as hundreds of seasons have passed over
an ageless calm which the past still adorns…
Your long aged headstone silhouettes
within the graced brush of sedge …
unpaved by these forgotten grasslands
growing over on pastures edge…
From the bard of this abandoned meadow
I was led to an honor of your final memory…
For in your lasting inscription is a serene message
of my blessings from eternal history…

In Joy, In Peace, In Grace, In Harmony of Love
I went on a spectacular road trip this past weekend. I happened across this fabulous deserted graveyard. I love graveyards, cemeteries, and mausoleums. I should have made it my profession in some aspect. Anyhow, I took the above photos with my cell phone so I am so thrilled how well the pics came out as I wasn't able to see the picture screen for some reason. This is by far my best site I have ever visited. I will be going to Milwaukee this year to take pictures of the Old Soldiers Home; the Old Soldiers Cemetery & Their Mausoleum. I had visited these sites back in 2001 (without a camera) when I was further educating myself on wound care at the VA Clinic for the surgical wound care of para and quadriplegics whom have had their cath surgically inserted directly into their bladder. I hope to visit an underground Mausoleum someday. (Written: March 3rd, 2008 9:35 a/m)
