Scams

Scams are not always done by individuals, like the one my husband ran into over the money the IRS is sending out to taxpayers. I wasn't around at the time, but he got a call from someone who asked him for our account number and bank name so they could direct deposit that stimulus check into our account.

He told them he doesn't know the account number, so they asked for the bank name

when he asked why, they hung up.

Some even though it is a business can run scams as well.

This week for instance were going back to Chicago for another court date with this business Kelley's Truck Center that towed the trailer we were hauling after an accident. The driver hit a low over pass with the trailer in Chicago, truck wasn't damaged. They hauled the trailer to their place of business and my driver drove behind them in the Truck.

Next morning they transferred the load from the trailer we were hauling to theirs,

Matt told me on the phone that their was no damage to the load. A couple days later I got a bill from them saying that they towed my Truck and the Trailer and was charging me over $5,000, they never towed the Truck but was charging for it.

Something smells it like Insurance Fraud. They also had my driver take the truck to a yard down the road for when he was out with their driver in their truck delivering the load, they also didn't allow the driver back into the truck so he could drive it home to Michigan. We bused the driver home with Greyhound.

When I found out about them holding my truck, I called the local police in Melrose Park, IL they called Kelley's while we were on the phone with them.

My driver at the time of the incident of the first store refusal called me on his two way and let me know what happened. Kelley's at the mitigation totally denied it and never had his driver or Matt their to tell their side.

While my driver and theirs was out making the delivery of the flowers, their Driver Mike was following too close to the car in front of him and slammed on the brakes, which shifted the load and put several flowers on the floor of the trailer, the store manager at Walmart came out and saw them picking them up and refused their shipment and so did the next store, which cost us over 3,000, because they had no cargo insurance. This was more than the price of the load that we were hauling.

They held our truck a Volvo hostage basically and they would not release the truck with out us paying for towing of the trailer and truck. Since the Trailer was not in our name they wrote up a bill for towing of both and this is what they were going to use to get the title of the Volvo, Matt told me by the end of the month I will own your truck.

Still sounds like Fraud to me! They couldn't hold my truck with out writing up a bill for it.

Kelley's held our Truck for ten days before I could get the money together to go get it. We estimated on average of 500. 00 a day we lost in income for them holding the truck or 5,000.00. We came by this figure by going over our invoices of the flowers we were doing then and use the time span to figure out what each truck made in that 10 day period. Question is how can they hold our truck for someone else's trailer. Trailer was owned by M & M Westbrook not DanTrans llc.

They also told us to just submit it to the insurance company they will pay it. I am not billing my insurance company for something that never happened. So much for their business ethics for them.

They also said that the flowers were rejected because they were wilted and threw them away, they were still on the trailer when we open the back of it at Neal Mast in Grand Rapids, MI. Charge of 500.00 to steam clean their trailer and throw out the flowers, which they never did.

Now all that time that we tried to talk to them on the phone, they treated us like a bug instead of the customer and wouldn't listen to our questions or answer them. I asked constantly about the bill and asked to speak to the owner who was never in or available to talk.

During all this I stayed in constant contact with my Truck Insurance company, Lincoln General, I even told them that they were charging for things that was never done and asked them to investigate them, never heard one way or the other on it.

When the trailer was empty and inspected by its owner Mark Westbrook, he found that they didn't fix the inside of the trailer like they said much less what they billed for.

Through my research I have found that they have had lawsuits filed against them, and several complaints through the BBB in IL.
