Beatrice Diane Goldberg here.  Just wanted to write, to let you know how things were going.

As you know, we are in the process of adopting a little Ethiopian girl, Tirpe.  She's beautiful! 

We have her picture on the refrigerator in our kitchen; we look at it every day.  We have already fallen in love with her.

Well, the other day (Friday), we got the call we were waiting for.  The adoption has been approved; we will be getting our new daughter within the month!!  Isn't that wonderful?

Already my husband and myself are in the process of tearing the house apart, giving it a good cleaning, from top to bottom.  No area will be untouched by our busy  hands.  We have to get the house in tip-top shape for Tirpe!

We also have to make the house handicap-friendly.  See, Tirpe is disabled.  She can walk, but uses crutches to get around, also wears braces on her legs.  We don't know the nature of her disability, but we plan on giving her every opportunity to succeed in life!

As you can imagine, my husband Darrell and our other two children (Myles, 8 and Ella Grace, 6) are excited beyond belief.  Every day they keep asking me when Tirpe is coming; they can't wait to get to know our new family member!

I just wonder if Tirpe will like our dog.  We have a laid-back Basset Hound named "Kirby" who is as easygoing as a flat tire.  Wouldn't hurt a flea; he loves everybody.  I guess we will have to wait and see when she arrives.

I am going to have to learn some basic Ethiopian:  don't know if Tirpe speaks any English.  This is going to prove to be very interesting! 

Well, I have to get the kids ready for school, then get busy calling my friends, to tell them the good news!  I meant to do it Friday, when we first found out, but things got in the way, and I plumb forgot! 

Call it nervous excitement!

I will write in here again, as things progress.  Hopefully the next time I do, Tirpe will be here, safe and sound!  Oh, this is similar to having a baby (without the pain, though)! LOL
