Hey. Hank here. Hank W. Granger. Hope this finds you well; me, I ain't worth a whole one. Life's been pretty shitty at best.
Pa done got himself arrested: I called the cops on him; he been hittin' on ma way too many times, and this last time, he put her into the hospital. Ma is doing better, but we don't expect her home until later this week. Pa broke her nose, her ribs, from when he kicked her. Kicked her right in the face, he did.
I had more than enough, so I squealed on him. I personally hope pa stays in jail, he deserves to rot in there after what he's done to our family!
My aunt Trixie has been helping out since ma has been in the hospital. She's my pa's younger sister, and she don't like pa's drinking any better than the rest of us. I sometimes wish she could move in, so she can keep an eye on him, so this sorta thing don't happen to us again.

I don't know why my pa's so mean like this, why he drinks like a fish. Maybe I do: it's because he's bored. He can't work, so he spends his disability check on booze; he's so cloudy headed all the time he doesn't know what he's doing half the time. He's happiest when the liquor/beer is floatin' in his system because then he don't have to face life.
Sad situation for him to be in. And an even worse one for us because we have to put up with his violent outbursts, his drunken rages that leave us shaking-scared all the time.
Well, the damn phone's ringin' again; maybe it's the hospital with more news about mom. Hopefully she's continuing to do well; I don't know what I'd do if anything were to happen to her!! I will write in here again soon; take care!

Very sad! Obviously Pa is very selfish....

My heart goes out to all that suffer being exposed to physical or mental abuse in a family situation. It is something that will stain the soul forever.
This is such a tragedy. It happens all too often in our country. And so many people don't know a thing about it. I've known people in this position. Though not quite as drastic, one of them was me. Very well written.
