Louisiana writes in her journal while rising for the new day, before she has to go to work.

Saturday, May 17, 2008, 5:10 a.m., D.S.T., Nashville, TN~

Dear Journal~

Louie here.  Sorry for not writing; have been busy since returning home from Louisiana.  I think we're about recovered now...LOL

We had a most marvelous time at the Crawfish Festival; we're still walkin' high from it!  Ain't nothin' like pure Cajun music or the scent of Cajun spices ticklin' your nose to get your spirits up, your body rejuvinated!

Ronee' and Johnathon both did a super job on stage.  Ronee' sang her heart out, played her heart out, and Johnathon played until his fingers were about to fall off! LOL  The audience loved them both, and they couldn't get enough!  We were so proud of them; Johnathon and Ronee' did great!!

Meanwhile, the rest of the family danced like there was no tomorrow.  I don't think any of my kids stopped laughing for a second!  Jodie was laughing so hard I thought her face was going to fall clean off! LOL

Bjorn did get sick from the crawfish; guess it was too spicy for him.  Barfed all over.  It was disgusting, but I cleaned up his mess (and him) lickety-split!  If there's one thing mammas are good at, it's cleaning up kid messes; I'm a real expert in that department! LOL

I got a new pair of diamond earrings from Bill, and a beautiful card (with $50 tucked inside) from the kids.  Of course, you know me, how I reacted:  I cried.  I am such a softheart!!

Weather nice here: flowers, garden all in, just ready for the food to start coming up, so we can eat.  With the ever rising food and gas prices, we have really had to cut corners, have been shopping at open air markets or fruit stands; the regular grocery stores are eating us alive.  Of course, church has been helping out, which we appreciate; it isn't cheap feeding a family our size!!

The gas prices we pay are astronomical: this is when we find gas cards convenient.  I don't know how people can afford to feed their families or take care of the bills; something has got to be done to lower these prices!!

meanwhile, while we are paying an arm or a leg (and half of another leg) for gas or other necessities, the oil barons are raking in record-setting profits!  Go figure; it just doesn't make any sense whatsoever!!

My friend gave me some new music CD's; Ruby from Ohio sent me some polka music, and it's great to listen to, makes me want to get up and start boogyin' across the floor!  Such infectious accordion music!  She sent me a CD by a band from Ohio (Hank Haller and his orchestra) who play German style polka, and they are quite good!  I slipped it into my CD player in my van, and I was smiling, bopping my head all the way home!

I'm sure my son Johnathon might like it!  I'll have to play it for him, see what he thinks. LOL

It's early morning here: not even five thirty, but I'm up because I have to be at work by six-thirty.  I work until two today (I hope; been pullin' lots of doubles lately).  Wonder if I'll end up working MICU again; we'll see what happens.

Bill is sleeping like a kitten: purring delicately, sprawled out all over the bed.  He looks adorable!  The kids are sleeping too; they won't be up until later (it's Saturday; no school today or tomorrow; today is the day where they sleep in).  I am taking advantage of the peace/quiet while the gettin's good!

Well, I am going to make myself some breakfast, then get ready to go to work.  I will write in here another day.  Until later, this is your friend, Louie, signing off. Take care and may God bless you always!

~Love, your friend, Louie May. :D

Sounds like Louisiana is still going great! But those crawfish can be nasty! And as for gas prices, well, I think we all identify wit that. I used my rebate check to fill my gas tank!

An interesting read on Louie May's account of the Crawfish Festival and mention of gas prices. I can well understand how gas prices effect everyone's vacations nowadays.

I loved this story. It gave me a little insight into the Bayou. I don't think I'd ever eat crawfish, though. Great read, Karen.

Welcome back! I too like Polka music...it has a way of grabbing you! Enjoyed the write my friend, as always it is a pleasure to read your work! You are a unique and wonderful person, thank you for your prayers...funny how a sprain seems to hurt as much as a break! Only me could fall at the beginning of summer vacation...I guess it could be worse, it could've happened in the middle of the year when there is little hope of sitting down! Enjoyed as always dear friend! It's good to be back at the den!
Blessings from Ky.
