Nashi Ben Ami is in the hospital, fighting for her life, and her mother is understandably worried about her.

I sit here at my stricken daughter's bedside here at the hospital, afraid to leave her for even a brief moment.

I don't know what to do.  I am scared that I am going to lose her.

This is Terri Ben Ami, her mother.  Nashi had been doing great in relation to her health, but two days ago, I awoke to the terrifying sounds of her choking.  When I went to check on her, I found her lying in her bed, choking, gasping for every breath.  It terrified me, so I immediately called for an ambulance.

Turns out that Nashi has an aggressive form of pneumonia.  Her lungs are both riddled with it.  She's now lying in the PICU, hooked up to a ventilator to help her breathe and all kinds of monitoring equipment.  She is very, very sick, and the doctors have her knocked out, so she doesn't pull out any of her tubes or wires.

To see Nashi looking so helpless, so frail, is enough to break my heart.  She is nearly nine years old now, but she's already been through more hell, more heartbreak, in her brief life than anyone has a right to go through.

This is when I hate the disease that she was born with the most; I wish she had been born healthy, like our other child, Hyman, who's almost seven.  It doesn't seem fair that even though she's the older one, she's the one who needs more care, more attention.

Doctors aren't sure as to whether Nashi is going to pull through this latest medical crisis.  I am suddenly afraid as to what may happen, and if it does, I don't know if I could handle it.  Just keep me in your prayers; I could really use a miracle about now!

I will keep you abreast of what's going on with Nashi; you'll be hearing from me again in a day or two.  Until then, I am going to try to get some rest; I'm past the point of exhaustion!  Take care and Yeshua bless!

~Love, Terri Ben Ami, Nashi's mom. :( >tears!<

What a gripping, emotional experience for this mother. With children that are ill, we always feel more helpless to do anything meaningful to help them. God bless. JMW

Losing a loved one is bad enough, but the possible impending death of a young child would be unbearable.
