Dear Journal~

Kat here.  Kat Delchamps-Hammer.  Hope this finds y'all well.

I'm over my period of depression.  Have decided not to watch any more Cajun music videos for a while whenever I go to You-Tube.  I am trying to keep myself busy, so I don't have time to think about N'Awlins or how much I miss being there.

The weather here has warmed up considerably:  temps in the sixties to lower seventies at best, really delightful (though it feels much colder than that when it rains).  The nights do get chilly though; can't put away the winter clothes, blankets just yet.  I am starting to get used to the weather here, slowly, but surely.  Still don't like the cold, though; this Cajun gal can't take it!!

Auroras are calming down; still have them in our skies at night, but they aren't as active, as frequent.  I'll never forget the first time I saw them:  I thought the world was ending; it really freaked me out big time to see these lights dancing across the skies; I didn't know WHAT was going on!!

Now that I am over the worst of my nausea/morning sickness, I hope the rest of my pregnancy progresses without incident.  Well, it's been determined that the baby I'm carryin' inside me is a boy.  So there'll be someone to carry on Frank's name; he is so proud!!  I am happy too; I wanted our baby to be a boy, and now that's exactly what is going to happen.  Sometime later this fall, we'll be the parents of a child, our first, and it's a boy!  How cool is that?? :)

Now we will have to think of some possible names for our son-to-be.  Franklin Delano Hammer, Jr.  Brick Dalton Hammer.  Wade Franklin Hammer.  Colton Ramey Hammer.  All good, strong, manly-sounding names, but somehow I think our first child is going to end up being a "Junior". :)

We have plenty of time to worry about baby names.  Right now I have to concentrate on getting the nursery completed, make sure we have all we need prior to the baby's arrival, and enjoy the peace/quietness because once Junior comes, it won't be.

I just wonder how our cat and dog are going to handle the new baby; I pray they won't do anythin' to harm it, or we'll have to get rid of them, and that would break our hearts!

Heard from Louie Sandusky; she wrote me a nice letter.  Nothing much new at their end, but she told me that a friend (Louisa Mason) is moving to Charlotte, North Carolina, so she can be closer to her twin sister, Naomi (plus Jeff, her husband, is being transferred there, on account of his job).  She says she's excited, and I pray all goes well for Louisa and her family during "the big move"!

Heard, too, from Jenna Aurora Doucet and her husband, Michael.  They are enjoying being the parents of two active little boys, one two years old, and the other just several months.  The boys are both healthy, and they are so cute; they look just like their mother:  short and squat, with the mother's Inuk features.  They are two of the cutest little boys I've ever seen!  I look at them, and all I want to do is take them home with me! :P

Haven't heard from Sikik Eegeesiak; hope she isn't having new problems with her MS or fibromyalgia acting up again!  It's really been giving her no end of trouble lately!  I will have to say a prayer for her!

Well, hubby is stirring; won't be long before he gets up, then we both have to wash up, get ready for work, eat breakfast, then head on out the door, to be at work by seven (it's nearly twenty past four now).  That means I have to go.  I will write in here another day; hopefully I'll continue to do better than I was during my last journal entry! LOL  Until then, take care; this is Kat Delchamps-Hammer signin' on out of here!
